Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show, I'm your host Paul aka he Who Spoils and it's time to get into our Kangsters paradise with Loki Season 2.
Things are heating up in a jonathan majors way and we're finally starting to learn more about the big bads backstory. Throughout this video we're gonna be breaking down season 2 episode 3 and discussing all the easter eggs, hidden details and things you missed. Now as always we begin with the marvel studios logo however there's a major difference to the music here.
Played out on an old timely piano this instantly puts us in the mood for where we'll be heading. That is Chicago in the year 1868 on the sacred timeline. Here we join Ravonna Renslayer who from her perspective has just stepped through the doorway at the end of season 1.
Now this is a big change up from how Kang is in the comics with the Victor Timely persona even being changed slightly too.

I'm still thinking someone is going to be revealed to be a robot, perhaps unknowingly. The show has been hinting it from the start. Heck, I'm thinking maybe Miss minutes later became Ravonna, and her looks have been taken from a Ravonna variant. But more likely, it's Oroborous. I'm thinking that at some point, Miss minutes has gotten a body, an is running around as someone we know. Or a variant of Miss minutes

I'm gonna say, I think revona and mobious used to be a couple before the TVA. Last episode was about remembering mobious past and how it could've been good. Then this episode we get their argument as they walked and talked about how they USED to be good together and when they met up, Kang was in the middle of them.

The refrigerator chair is actually super significant! Refrigeration/air conditioning was a difficult technology to figure out because while heating things up is easy, cooling them down is hard! Ravonna is unimpressed, but the people of his time would be astounded. Cooling requires reversal of entropy within a closed system which slows/reverses the effects of TIME(: Kang being the inventor is also a nod toward this technology irl being invented by a Black man named Fredrick McKinley Jones. Incredibly layered scene.

Jonathan’s performance as Victor was brilliant. He brought of emotional innocence with a little touch of mischief to the performance. Ravonna was great and I really loved Miss Minutes. But we have to shoutout the production and costume design this episode. Those shots and sets of the World’s Fair was amazing and Ravonna’s costume during the Fair was really good.

Theory time: the original he who remains is a scientist from the future like he said he was in season one. When he remade the mcu into the sacred timeline, he placed a version of himself in it as a sort of insurance policy if they ever needed a new Kang to restart the multiversal war and eventually come back into power, but purposefully planted him in a time where the technology limited him, preventing him from doing it without external help. I really feel like there was something more to him constantly bringing up how his current time period was the only thing keeping him from his full potential

Oh I fucks with it! Remember when we first met He Who Remains at the end of season 1 and he gives his backstory? He says there were variants along with himself that worked for peace even though they were selfish or whatever, and then there were the variants who were conquerors and started the war. He Who Remains was just the one that ducked off, found Alioth, weaponized it, and ended the war.....but he wasn't the ONLY variant fighting for "harmony". He didn't kill em all, only the "Kang" types, and even tells team Loki "If you think I'm the devil, wait until you meet my variants." This definitely works knowing every variant wasn't his enemy/threat and there was a squad of em building together while preventing incursions

You know what I think?? I think that Victor Timely is not HWR but instead Kang The Conqueror. What's gonna happen is that after he conquers everything, he will place a version of himself IN THE FUTURE as a failsafe so that he DOESN'T have to struggle with tech at first, and to conquer things sooner and faster to become The Conqueror. But what ends up happening is that THAT Kang in the future actually ends up using his tech to eventually find Kang The Conqueror, defeating Victor Timely and become HWR, who then places a version of himself in the past as a failsafe. And the loop repeats itself

My favorite part of the episode was the very last scene, LOVED how they don't show Miss Minutes's face yet you can 100% hear the smile as she says 'But it's gonna make you reeeeeal angry'. Miss Minutes is LOVING this moment and it's scary as hell.

I’m already lost. I don’t follow everyone’s motivations. Renslayer and Loki want the same thing but they’re fighting. Renslayer wants Kang to rise but also wants to kill him, which also what Sylvie wants but they’re fighting . Sylvie wants to kill Renslayer but she doesn’t.

Maybe it's a dumb idea, but maybe Ravonna in her original timeline was a teenage Kang's school principal. He kidnapped her from her own timeline to keep her permanently in the TVA. She wasn't a variant, he just had the hots for her. That could make her angry at him.

I'd note that the 1893 time period Loki went to is a branched timeline, meaning the Kang at that point is technically a variant, rather than the main 'Kang' of the sacred timeline.

It starts off as the Sacred Timeline before Ravonna jumps ahead, then it becomes a branched timeline. Since HWR controlled the Sacred Timeline, maybe he placed his younger self somewhere he would be limited by technology essentially making him harmless. In the Sacred Timeline he is just a dreamer. Renslayer created a branch by giving him the TVA book so that means it is probably not HWR's original origin

I think timely is within a branch here that will always occur. This timeline doesn't prune. Instead, ravona creates a paradox that allows timely to reach his potential as he who remains. I think he created this timeline from a branch so he can create a loop in the TVA

In terms of his voice I just assumed it was a byproduct of the time period. Anti-literacy laws in the 1800s were as such that Victor’s formal education options were grim if not entirely non-existent. It’s likely his sole form of education was the TVA handbook. From there he was a seemingly reclusive inventor so in that sense, the stuttering, the not always making eye contact, all of those things, to me, rang true because of those factors. The greater comfort with his words that he seemed to attain throughout the episode, again imo, added to the presentation.

When it comes to variants, we've seen how there are some shared traits among them (loki w/trust issues, spidey w/tragedy, strange having trouble 'sharing the knife', etc). With the kang variants, I wonder if the shared trait there is loneliness. HWR, the conqueror and timely, for all their smarts or power, they seem to be kind of sad behind all of it.

I see Kang as Tony but as villain. Too smart for his own good. Wanting to control everything, thinking its for the best, endless curiosity for pushing the boundary of science. Becoming God like through use of tech. Becoming obsessed with his work, having an ego clearly. Struggling to work in a team or partnership, at least at first. Both have an AI capable of evil. They are very similar it's uncanny.

Oroborus is a miss minutes type ai that kang actually did give a body. Because he needed him to be able to interact with things to be able to fix them. But they were compartmentalized so he would always end up with full control.

Literally my theory. I noticed he seems unemotional, like he doesn't get certain social cues. "We are all gonna die! Nice to meet you" Seems a bit non human. He takes some things said literally, that a programme would do if they don't get emotional context. I'm almost certain he's an android now. Hence why his memory isn't wiped as he's the bank of knowledge. He said he runs diagnostics too probs as a back up for miss minutes.

I could be reaching here, but the seat looks like devil horns on the sides of his head, which could later foreshadow Oroborous being the villain of the show.

Here is my theory on what secret Ms Minutes knows about Ravonna. What if He Who Remains transferred/transfers the consciousness of Ravonna into the Ms Minutes AI he created/creates before he wiped/wipes Ravonna's mind and sent/sends her to the TVA. Also, I liked Majors' portrayal of Victor Timely. It was like the Nutty Professor meets the Wizard of Oz. It will be interesting to see how Timely evolves/evolved into HWR.

I don't believe this Victor Timely is He Who Remains. In the beginning, when we see Renslayer arrive to drop off the book, the subtext says "Sacred Timeline". When Loki and Mobius arrive, it says "Branched Timeline". Idk maybe I'm crazy, or it was an editing error.

Do we know for sure that the sacred timeline was the first original timeline? Or is it just the timeline where the winner of the Kang war was from? Because if that’s the case then He Who Remains could most certainly have overtrown another Kang variant and inserted his own timeline as the sacred one and further creating said paradox to make sure he always stays in power.

I felt like the stuttering was all part of his geeky persona to make “investors” think he was a harmless nerd and then he runs off with their money. At the end of the day he was a con man and it was part of the act. That is why he got better toward the end of the show. And if he is a con man now maybe he always was and OB was really the brains behind the operation and they are going to figure it all out.

Unlike Edison, He Who Remains did credit Ouroborus by listing him as the author of the TVA Manual and including a photo of Ouroborus within it. Additionally, Ouroborus has the freedom to leave his basement office if he wishes but opts not to, driven by an obsession to complete his tasks. This is evident when Ouroborus had no problems leaving his office to fix the Temporal Loom and talking with other TVA members.

Food for thought), but I dont think this was THE creation of all Kangvariants, because that would imply that Victory Timely is not only the Kang for our universe but also the Original one, which would contradict the story about the original being a Scientific from 31st century.

Even if the TVA exploded couldn’t Loki timeslip and do something to restore it in the past? I’m assuming we will see the destruction of the TVA and Loki passing on information to OB in the past to save them all. Thus fulfilling the Loki ragnorak mythos of the ending of everything leading to a new beginning, and Ouroboros being the snake eating it’s own tail being a metaphor for the same thing.
