The story according to MTV at the time, was that the drummer began figuring out ways to drum one-handed while he was still in the hospital bed recuperating from the accident that cost him his arm. He would tap out rhythms with his remaining hand and his two feet while in bed. That's dedication.

When I hear this song, I’m overwhelmed with the feeling that we don’t realize we’re living the best days of our lives until they’ve long since passed. I was 17 and a junior in high school when this was a huge hit. I was in such a damn hurry to grow up and leave all the teenage “bullshit” behind. Now that I’m all grown up, 52 now, I’d give anything to live these days once again.

They have so much more capability than what's required, they execute with perfection and also have the ability to add in some nice touches to fill out the sound. This song was there when I had my first kiss. Then my first time falling in love, My first nostalgic moment and even my first breakdown. I'm 47. I must have been 11 years old when this came out and I bought the album. Back then, I had a group of friends (boys and girls) who would meet at our local skating rink. Jean jackets, hair spray and dad's cologne in hopes to be with our crushes... and it worked. Hysteria along with Never Say Goodbye (by Bon Jovi) were heart felt songs to hug your girlfriend/wife outside in the cool of late fall. Then taking her in the house, change and cuddle and kiss by candle light. Our best rockers were romantics. I'm a rocker and romantic too. May God bless Def Leppard.

My uncle, who recently passed away, was a roadie for the Hysteria tour. He survived all 16 months on the road plus one month of pre-production. He told me that this was the longest most grueling tour he had ever been on, but was really sad when it ended.
