I was born in 1973 and my father raised me on Kenny Rogers. I never listen to country music, but still to this day, I rock it out to Kenny Rogers at least once a week. RIP Kenny. Such a unique voice and a mind person from everything I've read. You should check out his songs "through the years" or "she believes in me." Have a good weekend and stay healthy

Lionel wrote this for Kenny, so this is the original, however, Lionel also recorded it later on & both versions are beautiful. That being said, my favorite performance is done by them together at the MGM grand in 2012. Seeing these two men & the love between them after their 30 year friendship is a beautiful thing to witness. This version is Kenny's first live performance & the one together in Ls Vegas is one of his last. For other great songs 'Through the years' is a beautiful one like this one. 'Coward of the county' & 'Lucille' are both story songs like 'The Gambler'. He also has duets with Dolly Parton, like 'Islands in the stream'.

You want to know what that quality in Kenny's voice, it is pure comfort and love. It is one is one of the first songs I remember and I fell in love at 5 yrs old. 😂 this song always told me this is how to make love to the one you love. From what you say to how to build passion. The flow of music just naturally builds the passion and joy then sooths the builds it all over again. I'm so in love by the end of the song every time.

My Mom was always playing his music around us.
