There are many rules in Rugby that dictate when and how you are authorized to catch the ball. It depends if you the ball owner is alone or if there is at least one teammate joining him. Also if you are the one who tackled the player with the ball, you cannot directly seize the ball, you need to free the player, stand up, move away a bit then only you can contest the ball. Plus many other rules 😀

4:23 when a player has been tackled both teams will form a organized dog pile which is called a "ruck" and in a ruck you push your opponents to gain possession of the ball and the person tackled tries to feed the ball back to his teammate. If the tackled person has an opportunity to continue running after he's been tackled he must release his his possession of the ball stand up and pick the ball up again but in doing so you give opportunity for opponents to gain possession of the ball

4:26s: U can only pick up the ball if u r "onside" Onside means u are BEHIND the ball... in otherwords, your back is facing your goal, & u are facing the opponents goal. If u are caught trying to get the ball from "a ruck" coming back while facing your own goal, u will be penalize for coming from an "offside" position.

If the other team trys to pick up the ball they will be offside, they can try and steal the ball after they make a tackle but they gotta be quick
