Thanks! It's not so much the algorithm's fault. This series has been going for almost two years now, and the viewership drops with every video. The algorithm is confused. Give it time. Once other series arrive, it should get a better idea.

Having just binged this masterpiece series to episode 18 in 10 days, my favorite stylistic touch? Your incredible rapid fire recitation of the noble titles, in their respective accents. I found you looking for background while reading How the Old World Ended, the story of the Industrial Revolution as an Anglo-Dutch-American process. IE Nederlands : The secret Mesopotamia of modern capitalism. A secret because..TLDR. Here you give us a glimpse of how that may be true. Please consider: episodes on how the Netherlands reached the incredible state of complexity when this war began....with lots of culture, low and high. And....the natural sequel of the 80 years, something bound to raise controversy and views....The Interregnum! aka The anti-Crown. Finally "resolved" with a Dutch King of England, arguably the most effective monarch in British History. Ms historical playwright: tear down those insufferable English royal tropes!!! Your scathing portrayal of Liz the first has already thrown down le gauntlet! Thank you for this new standard in historical presentation! No, I'm not learning Dutch, LOL but I did have some Pilgrim ancestors who need excuses.

And the only part we learn at school, is that de Groot escaped in that chest. Even the escape itself is way more interesting than just that. This just gives so much more detail and context to this critical part of our history. You absolutely can't focus on the war itself without the 30-years war, France's various shenaningans, England or the VOC. Let alone the political/religous side of the story. After all, war is just the pursuit of politics by different means. (Sorry for ripping of Clausewitz) The only serious point of criticism I would have at the this point, is the lack of a clear map for military sections (similar to the maps of more military focused channels). But in the end, that's really just nitpicking. The sheer amount of detail you bring to the story is fantastic, and it's a shame that it gets so few views. Many history channels who can only tell you one snippet of the whole story (and even then only by non-stop quoting of historians, since they know nothing of the subject at hand), often get 2k+ likes.

I personally think the music is maybe 5-10% bit loud but overall excellent video in an excellent series
@DefraggedHistory2 жыл бұрын
A few questions: is this for the entire series, or just this episode? Is it throughout the episode, or a few chapters? Does the music sound louder during the chapter intro's - and drop down when I start talking? Because that happens if you have a loudness/normalization setting on. I always listen to the episode on a normalization device as well, because I can then lower the volume on the worst offenders.

this is why i hated the death of Johan van Oldenbarnevelt the Dutch don't have someone with his experience and cunning on top of that his good relation with France, that's why i blame Maurits for not swallowing his bride and Pardon him.
@DefraggedHistory2 жыл бұрын
Well, even if he had been pardoned, he wouldn't have been in a government position. If he'd not been arrested, chances are very good it would have ended the Republic. It was a lose-lose scenario. However, a pardon would have saved Maurits' reputation.
