I can’t even tell you how beyond stoked I am that you reviewed this, as I was seriously going to suggest it to you. This song is my all time favorite song in my 44 years of life on this earth. It is my spirit/soul song. I can’t even tell you how many times I am spun this shit on my chaotic hard life... There is one of the version of this song that will melt you, if you can find it. You see, Sacramento spit out a bunch of really close friends that were in separate bands and played together all the time. One of the bands that was very close to Deftones was called “Far” and they were fucking amazing too, but never got as much promotion as Deftones did from their label… The lead singer of that band was named Jonah Matranga. After Far broke up, he did his own solo thing. One of the songs he covered in his live shows was his good friend Chino’s “Be quiet and drive.” But Jonah has a completely different version that is all his own take and will seriously make you cry. It is heart wrenching. It is really the sign of an amazing song when it is written in a way where it can be re-interpreted different ways in different styles and be gut wrenching no matter which way you listen to it. I implore you to track down “Onelinedrawing Be Quiet and Drive.” Onelinedrawing is the name that Jonah went by for his solo stuff. Peace.

Frustrating me is that the video version is so shortened. Even so, the song in general makes me think of my mother. She'd ask us kids if we want to go for a ride and get ice cream. We ask, "Where to, Mom?" "I don't know." "How far?" "Whenever I feel like turning around." "Why?" "Because I just want to run... or at least, feel like I can run any time I want to." I get that feeling, too. Give me a car and random destination.
