Great video! I have some additional info about what happened to the characters after they were removed from Astroworld. Frontier City actually used some of the animatronics in their fright fest event. They were placed in a haunted house and moved apparently. At least one Udder Delights did survive. And the characters have been confirmed to be scrapped a few years ago. The Great Texas Longhorn Revue is one of my favorite animatronic shows and I'm glad you made this video so more people know about it.

Glad you're starting to make videos talking about bands like this! One of my favorite theme park shows that got an unfortunate fate is the Country Critters Jamboree, another Country Bears ripoff installed in a North Carolina western theme park called Ghost Town in the Sky. Ghost Town closed in the 2000s and entered seasonal status until the early 2010s, in which it basically became an abandoned theme park. The whole show eventually had their heads stolen by vandals, but almost all the characters are *still sitting around in the abandoned park today...* There isn't a lot of information on them out in the public and only bits and pieces of their show have been found and uploaded on the internet, but it's a really interesting topic that would make for a great discussion

You should definitely do the former Jingle Bell Jamboree at Santa's Village in Jefferson NH, because it was the VERY first theme park outside of Disney to have an audio animatronic show. The show was also created by Aaron Fetcher, the co founder of Showbiz Pizza Place!

Great idea to make this a series! There are so many under-appreciated animatronic shows out there. Of course, many are long gone, but that only adds to their appeal and mystique in a certain way. Just wondering now if the statement at 10:46 holds any truth. As far as I know, animatronics is a generic term that had existed long before Disney came onto the scene. The term "audio-animatronic" was copyrighted by them, yes, but just "animatronic" was not. But maybe someone else can shed some light on the matter. Edit: ah yes, of course Premier Parks closed the show as soon as they took over Six Flags. Premier had very little respect for the parks they took over, such a shame.

Awesome video, im excited to see the updated country bear show. I loved the original version but the updates seem fun. Knoebels here in Pennsylvania used to have a country bear show as well, until the theater was used for the lazer tag arena. The animatronics remained in the building as the stage was roughly walled off until the arena expanded a few years ago. A couple are in the parks museum, one i think is the monster in the electric chair in the haunted mansion, and not sure about the rest. There are a few clips of it on youtube too, would be fun to have a show like it back at knoebels with their characters or something.

Hey! As a regular visitor of Frontier city, I’m here to say six flags didnt buy the park until 2018! We don’t technically have an animatronics show, but we do have “quick draw” which feature a few animatronics! It’s a shooter like, points system game, kinda like space ranger spoin, where you chase after a criminal through the down, and it ends with a box of dynamite exploding! Hoping this clears this up a bit? Let me know if you have any more questions, and I’ll be happy to answer! Edit: technically, six flags bought frontier city, sold it, and THEN bought it in 2018. As of right now, it’s still owned by six flags. Edit 2: unrelated but apparently Walt Disney died on my birthday-

@@TPMvids interesting! It’s kinda cool to think about! I dug a bit deeper and found a timeline on Wikipedia! According to this, it was sold to EPR properties, then was sold BACK to six flags in 2018! I love animatronic shows! I think they are a great entertainment option for various places, such as theme parks and restaurants. The characters and music offer a sort of magic that you can't get with screens. Unfortunately, due to FNAF, I don't think animatronic shows will be popular in anything other than horror ever again (outside of theme parks like Disney), at least for a while. And now that Chuck E. Cheese is getting rid of their shows, its getting harder and harder to see these great shows in great, or even functional condition. It truly is a shame. There are still a few though, like Billy Bob's Wonderland in West Virginia. Maybe you could do a video on them sometime? Again, I don't think animatronics will ever reach the peak they hit in the 80s-90s. But we can dream, and I am working on and off on my own figure, which I hope may someday perform in an arcade setting!

Having been born in the 70s, I quite literally grew up with animatronic shows. Being a frequent visitor to Disneyland as well as Chuck E Cheese and Showbiz Pizza in the 80s, I used to love these shows. America Sings is probably one of the most impressive I've seen. I still love animatronic shows today, but obviously for nostalgic reasons. Today's audiences are much more sophisticated and used to technology in their everyday lives, which is why they don't hold the attention of younger audiences today. But as technology advances, I feel they will come back in their way.

I enjoy animatronic shows. They provide entertainment, nostalgia, and a nice opportunity to sit for awhile during a theme park day. It is sad that these shows are slowly being replaced, but we just have to learn to change with the times. I would like to add that the popularity of Country Bear Jamboree at Disneyland had actually dwindled by 2000 and would face the same fate as Astroworld's show in 2001.

Great video, TPM! I would say that some people might still appreciate an Audio Animatronic show at a Disney park (but it would have to depend on if the Disney Company would budget for it, because of the cost of installation.) The only places where I could see Imagineering installing a new audio animatronic show at a disney park would be at either Tokyo Disney Sea or Tokyo Disneyland (because the Oriental Land Company could easily budget for it and it would be great, see Beauty and the Beast dark ride.) If the Disney company had ever decided to do a new audio animatronic show, it probably would have been in the early 1990s had either Euro Disneyland/Disneyland Paris succeeded or had the European magic kingdom park open in Spain (then we would have had the Tomorrowland 2055 project with Alien Encounter, the Timekeeper and Plectu’s Fantastic Galactic Revue at Disneyland, among several shelved projects.) Another hypothetical/what-if would have been to cap on the success of Lilo and Stitch IP and loosely based off the TV series with Stitch and his cousins in Tomorrowland at Disneyland (or at the Magic Kingdom, gasp!) with an audio-animatronic revue show. Though... hmmm... tbh, no offense to the new Zootopia dark ride but... I think the IP would probably be great to lend itself to again another musical revue with Gazelle and some other characters as judges with some of the cast singing some classic covers of pop songs with the lyrics slightly changed to represent animals and ends with Gazelle singing her signature song "Try Everything" with the dancing tiger back-up singers (The whole idea loosely based off of that one Zootopia+ episode on DisneyPlus.)

Aw man. I do like these animatronic shows but I also understand how they could get stale. I really hope we get a switch away from thrill rides soon. don't get me wrong, I love them and want to go on them as much as I can. But I remember a video a WHILE ago talking about how hard it is to bring kids to Universal because at that time... pretty much everything had a height requirement. It's gotten SLIGHTLY better with Villiancon, but it stuck with me. Then I brought my friend to Universal/Disney for HHN and MNSSHP and she's got a major fear of heights and doesn't find coasters that fun. So, if parks switch to doing all or mostly thrill rides... those people have no where to go. And that's also not counting stuff like grandparents, pregnant women, people with health issues... we need more shows (indoor and outdoor), dark rides, and so on. If not for the above stated reasons, come on give us some variety too. All coasters all the time makes things blur.

I think animatronic shows still have a place in theme parks for sure. The problem is that technology is so far advanced, that most of the mechanics and effects seem dated, plain, and lack that "WOW" factor from when they first were introduced. I think if another all animatronic show is introduced, it really has to showcase the huge advancement of technology. Like them actually interacting with guests. AI tech would be best used there. And with that walking Judy Hopps 'tronic being made, it would take it a step further. Animatronic shows are NOT obsolete. They just need to change with the times
