Fun fact: Another of Alyson Court's famous 90's roles was voicing Claire Redfield in Resident Evil 2 and Code: Veronica, and there's a funny story regarding that and the BCC. Alyson was doing one of the live appearances mentioned in this video in New York City back in 1998, at a toy store where she did a meet-and-greet for children. During a break, she decided to get up and have a bit of a walk around and happened upon a booth showcasing the then-newly released Resident Evil 2. As was per-usual (and to a great degree, this is still a thing today), Alyson had never seen the actual game, nor had any context of her character beyond reading her lines. So what grabbed her attention was hearing her own voice coming from the booth, which prompted her to enter and see the game--and her character--in action for the first time. So imagine, if you will, Loonette the Clown walking into a booth showing one of the most violent and gory games on the market at that time with a big awed smile on her face for reasons most people probably couldn't put together. IIRC, she mentioned that she got a _lot_ of confused and surprised stares.

@** and? Trying to relate to something and ACTUALLY relating to something are two very different things. You can't fake true relation lol, you really think I would sit through 26 minutes and 23 seconds of Lunette and her couch if I was really trying to "take over" everyone's 90's nostalgia through my relationship with the show? Definitely not haha! Being that I was born in 2004 shouldn't make a difference. If anything, it's even MORE liberating to connect with others (older or not) through a show many around me don't remember. The fact that you feel the NEED to tell me what I MYSELF watched as a six-year-old is just silly and immature :) The facts are: I like the show. I appreciate that there are others who also have fond memories of it. And I'm happy to have found the video. I don't understand why this is upsetting to you (also, saying "no offense" doesn't magically make what you say non-offensive). I'm personally not offended, but I do believe that there's a time and place for telling others what they should relate to - and telling someone younger than yourself that they shouldn't be able to express their love in a show simply because you spent an extra few years on earth longer than them, is stupid. AND yes...we have our "own stuff" as you mentioned. Us gen z's were the first to grow up among smartphones and more tech than ever. If you TRULY want the decades and generations to "stay in their lanes", then you wouldn't be using a smartphone. But I bet you still are. And that's okay lol. And I bet no 17 year old has ever walked up to you and said "you can't use a phone - that's crushing on our generation!", now have they? I don't think they have lol And guess what? Someone younger than you also likes the same show! :D w0W h0w amAzINg If you can't share "your show" (which it's not) with others, then please find help. Thank you for your time - and consider your time saved. I could write paragraphs among paragraphs (with legitimately good insults) surrounding your stupidity, but I think I'll save my breath. I hope you have a fantastic day my friend, and may you never fully complete the clock stretch :)))) Sorry you feel the need to tell me what I should remember as a child.

You can really see the difference between kids entertainment then and now. Not being a boomer (I’m 26), but hell, people were so passionate in creating a well-curated show for kids that were both educational and fun. Now we have dumb toy reviews on YT and have kids exploited for views and sponsorship. I hate when my nephew watches channels like Vlad and Nikita, they are absolutely uneducational, materialistic and hold no value at all. But yet these are the channels who earn millions.
@Beelzebubby914 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I usually liked the educational shows more, except for spongebob and when we got Nickelodeon channel at 11 years old. Wonder pets was cool, all the treehouse shows, PBS, telethon retro was okay too. Personally if I had children I wouldn’t let them watch KZbin unless I curated what they could watch. The toy review channels are just mind numbing. Minds absorb so much info at young ages so why not let them enjoy themselves and learn something at the same time?

I remembered because of the molly doll I had and the clock stretching. Didn't remember the name until I google it in my teens. I blame PBS for not showing it as often as they did sesame Street on it's other block like noggin or nick jr. or sprout.

@@Gittykitty Right! But in their defense, it is a primarily canadian tv show. So they probably wanted to show more native television than foreign.

My sister was born three days before my third birthday, and initially I was very upset that she took all the excitement out of my birthday (which I obviously thought was way more important than a sister). On my birthday, my mom gave me a VHS copy of Big Comfy Couch “from my sister” and I reversed course immediately and said I liked her. It was my favorite show and I think we still have that VHS lying around. Also, the couch looked just like my grandma’s couch, and that was my favorite place in the whole world. This show felt like a big hug every time I watched it. Thanks for the memories!

This whole show is full of great wordplay. Even just the main character's name has incredible depth. Loonette . "Loon" (like a clown). But also Lunette, the moon, which features prominently in the show as her symbol.

funny thing about the traveling show and public appearances, Alyson Court was the voice of Claire Redfield in Resident Evil 2, which came out in 1998, but because it was a video game she didn't have to worry about doing promotions for it. However, she told a story at a con about how one day at a mall, doing a Loonette appearance, she noticed a bunch of Resident Evil 2 stuff at a game store, including posters and standees showing off Claire. Court broke character exclaiming "hey, that's me!" to the confusion of everyone around her XD

So some fun facts about Alyson Court post-show. She did alot of work at Capcom, particularly the Resident Evil series where she was the original voice of Claire Redfield (they didn't bring her back for Rev2 or the remake sadly) She voiced Jubilee in Marvel vs Capcom Clash of Super Heroes. And most famously, she was apart of the localization of Megaman X5 where she named the Maverick bosses after Guns n Roses band members due to her husband's love of the band (her husband also worked at Capcom apparently)
