Ugh, Vicki was so good!! A great example of how you don't have to add 100 new notes to make the song thrilling, you can just sing the hell out of what's there.

ok the ensemble at the end tho. that is probably my favorite part of the whole number. from elphabas riff at the end to the orchestra booming and to the ensemble coming in so strong your ears are buzzing from the harmony. god I love this show SO MUCH

yeah she's *REALLY* good. She was my first Elphaba when I saw the show in SF in 2009 at the Matinee of Teal Wick return. saw her 2 more times Black Friday (Natalie No Fly Act 2) '09 *AND* that following Sunday as well.

@FlyBoyMT2 ай бұрын
@@wrightyyAs much as we love to think so when watching these videos…this is actually not a setup just to record for archival or entertainment purposes. Depending on the musician and your visibility to the conductor, you actually get a small monitor/screen that has this live feed to help you and the rest of the band stay together. I’d suspect the drummer and rhythm section would at least have one for each person. Most 12-15 piece Broadway “bands” tend to have one for each person, especially if the band is housed in another room or building. But since Wicked has somewhat of an orchestral setting surrounding and facing directly to the conductor, not everyone will need one.

Are those “one, two, three” finger gestures for the vamps? It seems like that’s what’s happening…they loop a phrase each time he does the fingers.
@markphillips42653 жыл бұрын
Yes looks like there are sometimes two or three vamps (four at one point) in a row, so he is indicating which one he is in. He also points his finger down as he exits the final vamp into the next phrase.
@ComputerGeek11003 жыл бұрын
Some of the finger gestures right before the fly section are because there’s two separate bars in that underscore that can be repeated if necessary (if something is taking longer than usual). I believe that’s why for the second one there he starts conducting like it’ll be a repeat but continues after one time through
