Well said, I think a lot of people are not aware of how sexual modern heterosexual culture is. Plenty of movies rated G and PG depict heterosexual couples kissing very sensually, but when there is a gay couple in the movie, then the lowest rating it can possibly have is PG-13. For example, the movie Love, Simon is a coming out story, except the main character (who realizes he is gay) never kisses another boy until the very end; and this kiss was very brief. This movie could have easily been PG had the main character been heterosexual. There are very few movies in general willing to have a gay main character despite what many conservatives may say about the media pandering to LGBT people. The movie Titanic briefly depicts female nudity, and it was rated PG-13; movies such as Love, Simon never featured nudity. The one movie I can recall where there was nudity between a gay couple was in Brokeback Mountain, except this nudity (Jack Twist’s butt) was very quick, and this scene was at night in a tent, so it was very difficult to see. This movie was rated R and featured less sex than most other PG-13 movies. I would go on, but I think we can agree that our society still maintains double standards regarding what kind of romance (and what kind of explicit content) is acceptable for children to see
