There are several situations where he didn't learn from his mistakes or experiences when he is a Principal of Degrassi Community School, especially the hazing incident or the suicide death of one of this students. Keep in mind that Snake was a victim of hazing himself during his Grade 10 Year in the hands of Dwayne Myers, and he was the one who found Claude's body during his Grade 11 year.

It was 1988 or the beginning of the epidemics and nobody knew what AIDS was except the doctors or scientists.It was a disease which was supposed to be contracted by anal sex or between homosexual partners and people were frightened and turned their backs on gays.There was very few information about AIDS except unprotected sex and rumors were common just like shaking hands could give AIDS.Today is it very different fortunately and there is a therapy which allows contamined people to live longer.

He was written this way to represent views that were very common in those days -- especially by young men. Degrassi had a way of changing the ways characters normally acted to fit storylines or teach a lesson. Caitlin would never have slapped a person, but they needed her and Joey in the same room together to get a dialogue going so that their arc of returning to their relationship could begin, etc.,
