Sean and Bianca were the troubled kids who tried to do better, had missteps along the way, and were actually caring underneath their hard shell. Dallas went from being a jerk to being decent, which is realistic for teenagers, so I can appreciate those types of "redemptions" as well.

I'm definitely like Sean: a misunderstood, moody, insecure, impulsive and flawed individual with a heart of gold. I'm also somewhat of a loner. I even go through great lengths trying real hard to make up for my mistakes and I care very deeply about those around me. One of my biggest weaknesses is not being able to escape my old ways. So yeah, I find Sean to be one of the most relatable characters.

If you are a butthole ofc you will have a harder time making friends. You have to understand that the only person you should care about liking you is you. Food doesn’t fix or replace anything. @@Mslee8320 thank you. I may act anti social but I don’t take loneliness well at all. Every time I feel hated or rejected, I be having these manic episodes, and exploding in anger. I choose my friends, wisely or unwisely, and yet people used to misunderstand me on what I’m saying, I don’t care if I don’t share the same interests, I want people to like me for me. Yeah they say that not everyone will like you, but it’s a reality I don’t want to, let alone refuse to accept. Reality hurts, and the fact you barely have any friends is no exception.

I loved Sean from the beginning. And if TNG was still on, I’d still be rooting for him! It’s characters like him that made Degrassi interesting and added depth. Sean’s character taught 12 year old me a lot about humanity and understanding that we are all flawed and still worthy of love.

Your video reminded me that I don't dislike Bianca-- I disliked her and Drew together because I dislike Drew. The writers did a pretty good job drawing out her story and arc. It's definitely not perfect, but my attitude about her changed over time, which is the whole point of a redemption arc. Also, Bianca and Drew's mom had one of the best relationships on the show and that scene on the stairs made everything come together for me re: my thoughts on both characters. I can totally see how Drew's mom, with her take-no-BS attitude, was a Bianca in her day.

Okay, the actual problem with Sean is that he was brought back to begin with. The only reason why they brought him back it seemed was to appease the hungry Semma fanbase. He wasn't brought back to cause Peter and Emma to break up he was brought back to be with Emma. Bringing him back to be with Emma made everything else about his character development pointless if it was all secondary to him being in a relationship with Emma. I am one of the few who didn't like Semma after the second try. I don't think their relationship would ever be completely healthy for a lot of the reasons you mentioned. He always put Emma on a pedestal and that's never the basis in a good healthy relationship between people. I am so pissed that they didn't do a longer term Jemma arc I think that would have been better and made more sense than to pair Jay with Manny and put Emma with Sean again. A lot of people hated that Emma wound up with Spinner but I actually found it good that she didn't end the series still connected to Sean and with someone who seemed to be able to not put her on a pedestal and be real with her and loosen her up.

I actually really liked Dallas and I think because he was in the later seasons with so many characters and storylines, his arc gets lost. Just think if he was in earlier seasons (what if he got introduced in the mediocre seasons of 6 and 7?)-- I think his character would have made a bigger impact on viewers. I also think that out of all the black characters, he had the best and most dimensional arc. Also the actor who played him was very talented.

The season 6 episode where Sean finds out what Jay and Emma did is an example of a Degrassi character overcoming their flaws rather than sweeping them under the rug. Sucks that this is his last piece of character development.

actually Peter is probably the most insane redemption arc, so like remember when spinner was an asshole and then the writers made him go through things to make him pay for being asshole to justify his redemption, Peter was a POS but they didn’t make him going through anything, he just showed up in season 8 expecting to be liked and then started snorting coke 😭

Please god tell me you talk about Alex being the driving force for Rick getting pranked. I get her past with her mom makes her very passionate about domestic violence issues and I don’t blame her for that. But they way she drove that prank she deserves a bit more consequences. The prank brought the gun in the first place then spinner and what’s his tits made it so Rick thought it was all on jimmy. Those two got consequences and I believe Alex should have gotten some too.

I wouldn’t blame Alex for the shooting, although I do think she has more responsibility for the prank. I believe that Rick‘s shooting was more so motivated by the fact that he thought that people who were recently being nice and befriending him, had pulled the prank, a.k.a. Jimmy, and that’s why he targeted him and Emma in the shooting. I feel that if Rick found out it was Alex and the boys he may not have reacted the way that he did. I feel like it was more on Soinnerand what’s his face for pinning it on Jimmy when they knew Rick was listening. although they couldn’t have known what he was gonna do. I don’t think that it’s anyone’s fault except for himself. We often hear the narrative that people commit violent acts like school shootings because other people were being mean to them. But some people are bullied intensely every day and never choose to bring a gun into school.acting out a school shooting is solely on the person who committed that act. I think that it makes sense that they didn’t give Alex so much shit for pranking a domestic abuser when she herself struggles with that at home. And it also makes sense that the boys ended up taking so much of blame because they directly blame someone who had nothing to do with it and got them paralyzed, not to mention that Jimmy was spinners friend. Sure, if Alex had never pulled a prank then potentially Rick would have never shot up the school, but I don’t really like that logic because it blames people unnecessarily and id argue that if rick had never been a domestic abuser then he would’ve never gotten Pranked and then he would’ve never shot up to school. You can always find someone down the line to blame except the person who actually did it.

@ I see what you’re saying. All I’m saying is the prank itself is what brought the gun to school in the first place. I said she needed consequences for the prank not to be blamed for the shooting. Like I said the prank brought the gun spinner and that other dude started the shooting. You can put blame on others while giving out the consequences deserved. Did her prank take the domestic violence away? No two wrongs don’t make a right. We can still hold him accountable for being a domestic violence abuser while also holding her accountable for her actions.

@@LJProductions247 im not justifying alex’s actions or disagreeing that she should face consequences. i just don’t believe that she is partially responsible for the shooting like you stated in your original comment. what both alex and rick did are wrong but they’re separate issues. like i said i believe in assigning everyone blame for their own actions, not what happens down the line. i do think alex managed to get away from that with no consequences for the prank but i believe it was overshadowed by spinner and jays choice to pin everything on jimmy and then spinners guilt from that making him take on a lot of the blame. even in spinners case, i believe that him putting the prank on jimmy is what truly caused rick to be mad enough to shoot up the school, but i still only blame spin for pinning a stupid prank on someone he was beefing with, not the shooting that was solely on ricks conscious.

Sean is an interesting character. Rewatching the seasons wish he stayed the whole of season 4. Season 6 return. Good seeing him and Emma if only she wasn't with peter. What were writers thinking having them together. The execution of Sean and emma's rekindled relationship was poorly done. Sean returning back to wasaga with his parents completed his story arc.
