You do the same thing I do to any new bike, grease everything including the steering stem bearings. It is so much easier to grease everything when the bike is brand new. Time well spent and saves you money in the long run.

That air filter oiling looked like a joke. I also found several things like that when I bought my KTM including really loose spokes and a finger tight cable on the starter. Really makes you wonder about quality control. Blue, I think they look sharp!

That is really cool. Growing up in the 80s I'm stuck with 2Ts but I have always wanted a second 4T trail bike. Problem is, I already have two nice 2T bikes that I can't justify replacing. I'm looking forward to seeing how you like it. Not sure about the wheels :-)

Congrats on the new bike and great video. Good point to prep these parts before riding. The front bearings aren't seal, weird. What do you recommend to replace them with?

Thanks for watching. I got some new ones from Moose Racing for now. SKF is my favorite bearing brand but couldn’t find those for this bike.

Got mine yesterday after almost a 6mnth wait. No loctite on any bolts. Poor wire routing. Noisy clutch. Wifi connection drops in and out. Black residue around frame welds. Thin flimsy plastics. Quality has definitely gone down in last few years. Payed 13k with fan in Australia.

Yeah, the front wheel bearings on my 21 yz450f were already dirty around all the edges when I pulled em apart to upgrade to locking spacers and pack with waterproof grease. Very dry dusty conditions where I ride and only have 2 hrs. on the bike. I don't ride in wet stuff at all really, so I'm confident the stock bearings will be "ok" for a year. Any recommendations on sealed type upgrade bearings for next year?

That is awesome, just finished watching! I’m really curious to hear your thoughts between the two bikes? Been thinking of a 2t but it seems a lot more people are hoping on the FX! What made you get one if you don’t mind me asking?
@DirtBikingwithDonnie3 жыл бұрын
I’ve been wanting a bike with linkage in the rear for the faster courses and I made the mistake of riding my friend Tyler’s 2020 250FX on a couple of occasions. I was hooked.
@Captain250FX3 жыл бұрын
@@DirtBikingwithDonnie nice! What are the differences between Fx and your xc? I’ve been kicking around trying a 2t but now everybody’s going with the Fx’s and I’m like hmmm maybe I shouldn’t switch?
@DirtBikingwithDonnie3 жыл бұрын
@@Captain250FX I’m still keeping the 2-stroke. It’s great for a lot of situations (like The Beast trail). It is a XCW so it has PDS on the rear (no linkage). The 250FX will be great for the faster stuff like Harescrambles.

Donny, my new numbers come in today and I was wondering if you have any tips on prepping the number plates? I didn't get new ones until I figure out whether or not I can still race or not so the old have some scuffs and dirt stains. Besides a good cleaning, should I scuff with sandpaper or something like that?
@DirtBikingwithDonnie3 жыл бұрын
Clean the plastics with contact cleaner or brake cleaner. Use microfiber cloth to minimize lint. If you have scuffs you can feel with your finger smooth them out with some 800 or higher sandpaper. The number plates on these Yamaha's are some of the most difficult I've done because of the extreme curves. Take your time and don't be afraid to pull sections back up for a second try. A few drops of baby shampoo mixed with water in a spray bottle makes things a little easier if you want to use the wet method. Apply and then squeegie the liquid out. Good luck.

Great video! Just wondering what grease you would recommend using?
@DirtBikingwithDonnie3 жыл бұрын
I always use Belray waterproof grease.
@andrewbecker37003 жыл бұрын
I second that recommendation. The Bel-Ray waterproof grease has been the standard for as long as I've been doing this. The additives they put in it makes all the difference.

Many parts are compatible. A good way to find out is to go to the OEM parts section on rockymountainatvmc.com, look them both up and compare part numbers.
