I got one for Christmas and my daughter and I did 2 apples. I wasn't sure how many I could do. Once I did them I figured we could have done more. Very helpful thank you. We didn't have anything but a knife. I realized it would be easier with the correct tools.

Thank you for your kind words. I think starting off with 2 apples is great. I like starting small. It's better to start small and do more later once you know you like something, than it is to do a whole bunch and not like how things turned out. I do like having a mandolin and the corer. They helped a lot. But before getting them, I just used a knife. Bottom line is to do the best you can with what you have, and add tools over time. I hope you enjoy your new dehydrator!

I think using a mandolin or meat slicer, you end up with more uniform thickness in your slices, so hopefully they dry all at the same rate and time.

Thank you so much 🤗. I do like it, but in some ways I like the Nesco better. I might do a comparison video one of these days!

Do you soak the apples in lemon and water to keep from turning brown..
@StockingMyPantry Жыл бұрын
I did that, and they still turned brownish. But I put cinnamon on them and so it didn't really matter.

I make those too. My granddaughters love them. I don’t put sugar just the cinnamon but I bet the sugar is soooo good
@StockingMyPantry3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the sugar is good, but it's better if you never go down that road. :) Thanks for stopping by, watching, and leaving a comment.

I was seriously just thinking about doing some apples. So glad I saw this, I might go home and make them today. Would you think it would be okay without the the sugar, and just cinnamon?
@StockingMyPantry3 жыл бұрын
I think it would definitely work to just use cinnamon! I've done them without any coating whatsoever, and they turned out fine. So adding cinnamon and leaving out the sugar should work great. Let me know how they turn out!
@kfl6112 жыл бұрын
I bet instead of using cinnamon, if you used pumpkin pie spice, that would taste good too!

Maybe only coat the top side with sugar cinnamon mix
@StockingMyPantry3 жыл бұрын
Great idea! A huge advantage is that if you put the uncoated side down, it would be less likely to stick. I'm going to have to give that a try next time!
