Velcro tape doesn't work well inside cars when they're left out in the sun. The adhesive lets go when it gets hot and whatever the tape is holding ends up on the floor.

Wow smh I always had mine under the center console hidden, and it works find the way you have yours mounted is crazy but if that's how you wanted it and it works good for you #kindoftacky

It will report the violation only if the full alarm is triggered, not just the warn away. I have mine set to warn away when someone looks in the window. I can go to places and not worry about people walking by my car, only the shadeballs that are looking in it for something. Takes alot of adjusting, and walking up to the car many more than 3 times.

What if your in the parking lot and the driver of the car next to you just wanted to enter their car? wont it trigger the alarm? can you set it to just have a warning siren? coz that will be a hassle if it goes off easily. I'm looking up modules for my car and I'm still looking around. Thanks!

It sucks .. I have the same sense and it’s annoying goes off all the time when the wind blows picks up the tree limbs moving and Walmart omg someone parks next to you … it’s better to not add that . I spend around $1000 on my viper after someone cut off my catalytic converter’s on my Toyota Tundra …..

I have the exact same alarm and I was able to store the proximity sensor inside my center console and it does not interfere with its range. Try it and you will see

Hey nice ride, Did you install this yourself?..If so question for you: I have a Viper 350+ installed in my Mazda 3 and I want to install the DEI 508D & DEI 516U. Is the installation as simple as tapping into colour specific wires and how do I diode isolate both. Thanks in advance!

Do you have to have a car alarm in order to have a proximity sensor? Like can I just get one for the exterior and use my regular built in security from my car (2003 Trailblazer)? What if I'm nowhere near the vehicle, does it just have to keep ringing till it shuts off?

where did you place it in the car and how did you set it correctly? I have mine underneath the center console in my 07 tahoe and the only way it triggers now is if the windows are down and you stick you hand far in the car..

So, you can set this up to say, 'Protected by Viper, stand back' the first time somebody BRUSHES against the vehicle, and then have the alarm to go off the second time? If you don't have the proximity sensor, I mean. That seems like too much of a pain for parking lots, aha.

+playingfor4 Yeah, I got it removed on my vehicle. It's only great for if you only park in a personal garage or driveway like this guy does in this video.

+playingfor4 Depends on where you have this mounted, I have mines attached to my armrest for on the go adjustments depending on the parking environment. Its spliced in with the sock sensor that way if I decide to set the proximity sensor low I still have the shock sensor as backup but there are several ways that you can have this setup.

Hey, great vid. I purchased the 516U and I'm about to connect it to a Viper 350+ which has shock sensor built in. You are saying to not purchase the 508D, but does the shock sensor does the same as the proximity?

thats a good hook up bro... i was given a BullDog Security 500 Delux for free. and most shops wont install them, but have you heard any bad reps for bulldog alarm systems.. or its nothing but a brand name thing,,, thanks

Yea so get this i bought one of these from my shop for $75 for my 2013 Honda Civic i sort of installed it on top of my dash just above the radio and after just 2 weeks someone broke my glass and ripped it off my dash and stole it at the same time they ripped the main alarm module from underneath the dash, when i got to my car i found it just hanging there non functional, I was wondering why my remote kept making that out of range beeping sound my remote usually does when im far from my car but that time i was just outside of my car, Damn i was pissed not only did i pay another $75 for another proximity sensor but had to pay my shop an additional $200 rewiring fee a new piece of glass which was $350 and some advice "NEXT TIME DONT LEAVE IT IN PLAIN SIGHT"

You have it installed wrong there buddy. The tabs point north to south. That's probably why you can walk up too close to your car instead of 5ft like you mentioned. Your console shouldn't have that much of an effect on the sensor. Also, installing it on the outside is tacky. It's designed to be hidden.
