Things I forgot to mention- Both records have somewhat of a punk undercurrent to them which is nice when trying to get across a defiant vibe, and the Bulldozer cover at the end of the Assaulted Christ record is a fun moment. If only there was subject matter that was less gimped to rebel against nowadays. Check out the Assaulted Christ record here- kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4bGfHiEaJZojqssi=3LQYvShUw-6DzUZO

The AI cover really nails home the "this is my dayjob metal" going through the motions mentality of Deicide. Like many, many, many older metal bands it's hard to believe it's the same, or some, or one of the people that made the inspired first two albums. And I am glad you offered a counterpoint in a release you did enjoy, they are out there but the downside is hardly anyone is going to notice leaving metal mostly a hobbyist genre for other hobbyists amid a sea of hype bands and transients. Have you listened to any bands on the New Standard Elite label? I found the releases Nithing - Agonal Hymns and Trichomoniasis - Makeshift Crematoria pretty interesting, maybe the beginning of some possibilities for brutal death metal to evolve into something different, at least in my mind I can hear the potential. If they're willing to not be held back by fulfilling the checklist boxes of being brutal death metal it could be something actually worth anticipating. That and I'm inspired to try it out myself.

It's laughable that these bands think a few mean lyrics will have any impact. Jesus was mocked, insulted and tortured to death by the Romans, but here we are millenia later and billions still praise his name. In 100 years nobody will remember either of these bands.

The people pulling the strings in the US have way more of an impact at making the country anti-Christian than the Satanic Panic ever did, but in a hundred years Mohammad will be our collective savior, along with Costco and Starbucks.

It's sad that poor examples of Christians do more harm to the faith than their 'enemies' ever could. And often these enemies are just individuals harmed by and lashing out at a religion which should be doing more to model the universal love it preaches.

@Necromass-pi2ihIslam is currently metastasizing across Europe. There’s plenty of bands from multiple regions that probably would have a lot to say about it if they weren’t worried about getting decapitated.

I don't think they are ever "trying" to not sound like Deicide because they AREN'T Deicide to begin with. Those guitar players don't really know how to write and play like the original members because they aren't them and never will be them. This is another case where i wish the band would change the name. I know the drummer writes riffs too, so the parts that do sound more like the old Deicide were probably written by him.

As far as I know Steve writes a majority of stuff, although Benton, who recently confirmed that he invented the computer, said a lot of the material was his. Chances are they are both full of shit and the music was all AI generated just like the artwork.

It's gross that they decided to use an ai generated album cover instead of having real art made. Makes me think about how if ai improves, I should flood youtube with some ai generated Deicide sounding songs in spite of them. Just enough to piss them off. Would be worth it to me. Bands have basically declared war on the artists that helped them over the years, so they deserve the same in return.

It’s especially sad after how strong the artwork for Overtures of Blasphemy was.
