Today we`ll be exploring Karakoy Istanbul Turkey.
Karaköy, part of the Galata district originally settled by the Genoese in the 12th century, has been home to various cultures over centuries, including Jews, Genoese, Greeks, Romans, French, Venetians and Ottomans. In 1826, Sultan Mahmud II commissioned architect Garabet Amira Balyan to construct the Nusretiye Mosque.
Karaköy ("Black Village" in Turkish), the modern name for the old Galata, is a commercial quarter in the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul, Turkey, located at the northern part of the Golden Horn mouth on the European side of Bosphorus.
Karakoy was an important part of the port city Constantinople during the Byzantine era. One side of the famous chain that prevented enemy ships from entering the city too. As there was no bridge that connected to the Golden Horn in the Byzantine era, Karakoy seemed like the far side of the city in people's eyes.

Karakoy adalah bagian penting dari kota pelabuhan Konstantinopel selama era Bizantium. Satu sisi rantai terkenal yang mencegah kapal musuh memasuki kota juga. Karena tidak ada jembatan yang menghubungkan Tanduk Emas di era Bizantium, Karakoy tampak seperti sisi kota yang jauh di mata orang.
