Pulla Dunn Ed reed reminds me of Rod Woodson. A ball hawk. Int return specialist. But with a Miami Hurricane toughness. Polamalu reminded me of Junior Seau if he were to play the Safety position. A huge gambler instinctively and also from USC. Nobody has ever seen an Islander Play Safety in the NFL and become a HOFer at it. He definitely revolutionized it by opening the doors up for future generations. Islanders now play positions like QB (Tuavailoa) and he probably would’ve been sent to linebacker or backup lineman had it not been for Troy showing that you can play something outside of the box (pun intended). Reed revolutionized by being a Cover Corner with the toughness to play safety. He opened the door for Miami Safeties. Sean Taylor was next. He also proved that you don’t have to be this monster looking safety to dominate a game. He revolutionized the game by becoming such a threat that every team now had to have that free safety superstar on their defense and it started to show on payday. Troy Polamalu was drafted in RESPONSE to Ed Reed because they needed somebody LIKE that to stay on Par. Revolutions are when eyebrows now look your way because of a huge change that happened. The current gen usually is unaware of the revolution that happened because to them, the fruits of that labor become the “new normal” and all they ever knew but somebody helped pave that way and it is why it is good to know our sports history and history for that matter.
@scottsodyssey24853 жыл бұрын
The best example I've ever heard of how to determine if a player was a HOF'r was "Did he dominate the game at his position during the era in which he played?" Think about it like this and you can answer most questionable inductees. Just like Prime said Randy Moss, DONT even have to think about. TO, should have been first ballot, weather you like him or not his numbers are HOF worthy.

Is it only playing 6 years but great all six? Character. Can you be great on the field and not be off the field? Should character even be considered? Can you get in with good character and average skill but played 10+ years? They need to set the criteria for nomination. It’s too ambiguous.

Stats always lie! Anyone can put up stats. Baseball stats are bogus someone gets 600 homeruns in 13 years and then someone 20 years into his career get 601 and that’s considered a great accomplishment? Know if you’re going to break a record you have to do it in the least amount of games that that person did it in. Playing five years longer and then beaten that record is not breaking that record. I’m sorry same thing goes with Basketball as well all time greatest score will Chamberlain did it in a lot less years then Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He’s not the whole time scores leader he just played longer. Stats live 100%. Game footage tells you who the guy was because he wasn’t on the team that ran a lot? Because he was not on the team that through a lot? Because he was not on an offense that was great? Please stats are bogus

My only problem with Deion's way of thinking is that if you base it off whether or not you have to think about it, that kinda lends to personal biases taking over the voting process even more. Like with Zach Thomas he says you gotta think about it. Yet, if you analyze his career he actually had almost the same type of career as Brian Urlacher who more football fans would agree was a no-doubter for the HoF. Just because the guy isn't a no-doubter doesn't mean he isn't a HoFer. If you have to stop and think about it that's not necessarily a bad thing, in fact it'll probably lead to some realizations about certain players who you hadn't considered in that way.
@Mytowerisaneiffel Жыл бұрын
Well said, there’s levels to it. If you’re that guy you get in first ballot, that lets people know you were that guy. If you’re third or fourth ballot they can judge accordingly. His way of thinking is flawed. He said Randy Moss no doubt (which I agree with) but Bill Polian didn’t. So does that mean Moss shouldn’t have been first ballot? Of course not
