They forget all the positive things a person did and how that person pushed a movement forward. Prime pulled the ship a good bit forward by himself. He got other former NFL players to coach hbcu’s and brought a massive spotlight. It’s time for everyone else to keep it going. I don't think most people thought prime would be at JSU for 10yrs. But because of the things he said about building JSU and HBCU'S into a place top recruits would come instead of PWI'S they thought he might at least stay the length of his contract for the kids he recruited. I was not one of those people I believed he would leave as soon as he thought he could get a PWI job as that was his initial goal when none of the PWI'S would give him a job. JSU was always going to be a stepping stone for him to get to where he wanted to be.

@samsneadd Жыл бұрын
Please watch the full interview and keep a open mind. I watched it 3 times now. I knw there is no way u watched the full interview and still are asking that same question. Hbcu cannot compete finacially or academically and they have certain regulations they have to pass. And he did not have this as his plan frm the jump. Dude had offers outside of hbcu befr and after he signed with jsu
@Niatate Жыл бұрын
@@samsneadd He said God why you CLOSED the others doors when he received the JSU offer. That is why he considered it. If the other schools would have hired him he would not have came to JSU. Did you see when he said he got the call from JSU he starting saying talking and Shannon finished it by saying "that could work". In other words let me take this job to show them (P5 what I can do). That is absolutely fine. Where he went left is overselling and saying God called me here to show our kids they don't have to go to other schools to be successful...blah, blah, blah. He didn't have to do all that he would have been accepted anyway.
@urfavoritebarber2573 Жыл бұрын
@@Niatate thank you for that you are exactly right . Because Deion Sanders pretty much sold us a dream that he never had intentions on for filling and Colorado was the first offer he got and he jumped on it and all that he had other offers sounds like a lie because Colorado doesn’t even make since. This is a good interview and I appreciate that Shannon buttered him up before asking him the tough questions. Deion should be credited for what he accomplished at Jackson State and the school is better off because of him, but the main reason he is facing so much criticism is because HE said it was about elevating HBCU football and JSU into a top program nationally. So, people are holding him accountable for his words so I do think the criticism is fair.

1877 - The year Jackson State University was founded by our esteemed Ancestors. JSU has graduated some of this country's best educators and engineers. People let's move beyond games and this issue.

College football is a billion dollar industry. That’s how PWC get so much exposure and what not. HBCU needs to embrace their athletes coming back.

You know you lying, name one engineer that did anything the last 25 years, I don't want to hear about 50 years ago.

@@classof2010president The most African Americans in America live in Mississippi. One of the poorest states in our nation is Mississippi. I appreciate Mr. Sanders' intentions, but nation building of the type we need is well beyond the sphere of entertainment, sports and games even though they have their place in society (and I thoroughly enjoy the SWAC). I look forward to someone doing research 10 years out on the impact Mr. Sanders' time in Mississippi made on it's people - or will it just be a pleasant fleeting memory? Shared in respect.

@@Glistensis that isn't true at all. More African Americans are in 17 other states. The surrounding States of Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Florida, and Louisiana has more African Americans than Mississippi. I don't know where you got your data from but you are completely wrong
