I've had a few requests to do this type of series, so here it is - Overexplained Part 1 where I go through each era for each victory type. I'm starting with Culture, and spending this video going through the Ancient era. I talk about why I'm doing each of the things that I'm doing, explaining everything as I go along, and talking about my next steps as well.

It's been brought up a few times (and I also mention it within the first little bit of the video as well) - but I realize that these first 2 parts are a little less on the Overexplained as people were hoping - so parts 3 and onward will be moreso on that end. Hopefully it improves on that point~!

yeah it's a super valid criticism, and i find myself doing that more often then not because i find myself thinking like a few steps ahead of where i should be, so my brain doesn't necessarily think to communicate those specific points!

Saw your very good videos, tried to play as Menelik myself. Only on immortal. Should have rerolled when Alexander popped up as neighbor. Managed to defend my capital a few turns but he just suzed the nearest city state and they put me out of my misery in turn 60. You youtube superheroes make it always look so easy winning on deity, but tiny little morons like me will never get there. @boesthius, you have my deepest respect for mastering this game so perfectly and giving your audience the opportunity to learn from you. What's the plan if you fail to get oracle and an AI gets it while you build it? Every time I try culture the oracle is gone by turn 50ish at latest.

I am a big fan so I hope this comes off a positive criticism. I thought this series is Very Good but I don't think it fulfills the role of "Overexplained". I kept finding myself asking "but why do you want X" and "how does he know Y". I would love even more of a detailed breakdown for this to be Overexplained. Keep up the great work!

IMO, it’s easier (but maybe not faster) to win a culture victory by going Owls of Minerva and building Econ and wonders early game. As opposed to early theatre squares. Middle game you buy all the current great works available and then bombers and heroes take over the big culture cities around the map. Late game a few natural parks and rock bands get it done.

Didn't the Colosseum not show up because you didn't build an entertainment complex with a stadium? Otherwise it wasn't taken... You just need the prerequisites to have it show up to build.

I did not, the series didn't meet up to my standards so I ended up canceling it. I HAVE plans on doing more, just some different ones.
