Deivapiravi - Tamil Movie
Sivaji Ganesan works for a civil contractor. Padmini is a construction worker. Sivaji loves Padmini and marries her. He also takes care of Padmini's mother and younger brother. Sivaji's brother and Padmini's brother also live in their house. M.N.Rajam, daughter of a civil contractor likes S.S.Rajendran. Sivaji and Padmini prefer S.S.Rajendran's marriage with M.N.Rajam. But Sivaji's brother also aspires for Rajam. Padmini requests Rajam to forget S.S.Rajendran and marry Sivaji's brother but Rajam declines it. Meanwhile Sivaji gives shelter to his father's mistress and her daughter. They create problems in the family through their evil plans. Circumstances lead to S.S.Rajendran's arrest. The evil ladies allege Padmini for loose morals. In the event Sivaji scolds Padmini and S.S.Rajendran. Thus Sivaji and S.S.Rajendran become inimical. The rest of the story is how they come into good terms.

What a terrific scene ! With precise & sharp dialogue & superb acting from all of them. At 15, I couldn't understand anything but Sivaji's acting. At 70, I am able to comprehend the entire gamut & depth of human emotions & their uncharacteristic attitude in such dubious circumstances. This scene completely portrays it without even an iota of omission.

Sir,when I watched it for the first time decades ago in a thatched-roof theatre of a shanty town with my friends....all of us were stunned by this climactic sequence...and the stellar performances of everyone including A.Karunanidhi (he has always been an interesting actor, whatever be the role!)... and when SSR who is a top-class actor when there's a meaty role or scene nearly stole the show at a particular point,we diehard Sivaji fans became angry and distraught...but a minute later Sivaji upps his game to championship level and mops the floor with him in absolute style, with classy self-assurance,though his character in the film's latter half was flawed and leaves no scope to gain ground in the climactic stakes.But Sivaji does it brilliantly as the movie closes and proves that he is matchless!But we couldn't forgive Sivaji for allowing the directors to yield important ground to SSR for a minute nor could we forgive the directors. Many years later Sivaji himself said in an interview that for a film and it's important scenes to have a gripping rhythm and place the film deep in the minds&hearts of the varied audiences,he most willingly and happily accommodated fellow actors to prove their signature mettle also and allowed them to steal the thunder in the largest interests of the success of the film and also enrich cinema-art! Another astounding climax is that of படித்தால் மட்டும் போதுமா !

Super scene! No hero will allow and accept what SSR was talking about the HERO Sivaji. But this formidable Great Hero allowed and he know that he can stand out with simple meaningful action and nuances, style etc like dei dei etc Great Actor - We miss Sivaji Ganesan. Just happened to see hindi version Bindiya no match to Tamil Deivapiravi movie! Evergreen Excellent pair Sivaji-Padmini!
