I listened to the Vinwiki story a few months back and this one is a bit more detailed! This is the quickest I ever happened onto Rabbit's story! 46 seconds! Rabbit I need to edit my comment just to tell you my experiences with someone that broke her leg like you did in a car accident from the impact when they were pressing on the brake, The first one was about 35 years ago I was taking my son to school on my way to work and about 50 feet in front of me a car turns in front of a car coming the other direction! The car coming the other direction hits the turning car in the right side front fender and door and spins it 180 degrees out of the way and veers off of the road into a big tree! I jump out and run over to the car and the woman still has her right foot on the gas holding it to the floor and her left foot had bent the brake pedal sideways and her leg had snapped off a little above the ankle and the bone had come through the skin! Luckily she had heavy socks on because she was bleeding profusely because in the few seconds it took me to run over and reach through the open window and shut the car off her white sock was soaked from the wound down and filling her shoe with blood! I was the only one on the scene and I yelled at my 12 year old son to start beating on doors until he found someone to call 911! He got some woman that yelled at him for waking her up and made him call and the operator only half believed him and asked his age before grudgingly notifying the town ship emergency squad that sent a guy in an S10 BLAZER to see if it was true and he walks over and looks in the open window to see for himself when I told him the woman was hurt bad and almost passes out when he sees her leg snapped off and the blood! He makes his way back to his Blazer and radios for an ambulance and sits half way in it with the door open into the little bit of room for traffic to get through! meanwhile the woman in the other car comes to and is screaming and trying to get out of her car so I ran over to her and told her to stay in her car and told my son to stay with her because the rookie EMT/ Fireman was no help at all cowering in his Blazer! I ran back to the lady that was hurt real bad because she had managed to get the door open a little and was trying to lift he leg to step out! I pushed the door shut and locked it! A highway patrolman showed up and came over to me and I told him that I had her calmed down to go help my son with the other woman that was in her car screaming! He seemed relieved not to have to look at all of the blood! Finally an ambulance shows up and then the fire trucks and they take over and the highway patrolman tells me not to leave that he needs a statement from me, Then shortly afterwards the township fire chief comes over and starts yelling at me for standing around an accident scene I told him to kiss my ass that we saw it happen and were first on the scene, called 911 and kept the women from trying to get out of their cars and the cop said to stay there! The cop came over and got the name of the place I worked at and the school my son went to and actually came to both places to get statements! It helped my son out because his teacher and the principal thought he made it up to get out of class but apologized to him when the Patrolman showed up to take his statement! I couldn't believe the level of incompetence I saw in the volunteer fire department/ Emergency squad that day! I'm sorry! I didn't realize how long my comment was getting Delete it if it's too long you telling about your leg just brought it back like it was yesterday, When you get old you will ramble on like me!

I'm chilling out on a Monday morning, doing my KZbin automotive trifecta, RUC, VinWiki, and Nick's Garage. My laptop is now sporting a brand new RUC decal and life is good, in spite of the, "DAMN PANDEMIC!" Have fun in Daytona this week, despite the "DAMN PANDEMIC!" One of these days I'll find a way to make the 45-minute trek East to check out the cool cars and just maybe say hi to Uncle Rob, and cousin Kobbie along the way.

Broke my leg in a motorcycle accident too just like you 🐇 but luckily I had a distraction from the bumps in the floor since my upper jaw was smashed in, 7 teeth knocked out, bottom lip ripped off, and a snapped PCL ligament 😎. Let me tell you though having your mouth wired shut for 2 months is a great way to lose weight. Got into the best shape of my life shortly after haha

Reminds me of when I was in rural Alberta during my 9 year stint in Canada. Had my 1994 Nissan Pathfinder, with a 5spd manual obviously. Took it off road for my first time. Had owned it since 2004, and it was 2016. Had taken it in backyards and on dirt roads a few times before, but never really off road. I was going up a hill, very steep one. I am in my bright red Nissan, and I feel and notice it tilting to the right. I attempted to correct....and...then I was along for the ride. I rolled it 14 times, I counted. Came to rest with a crash at the bottom of the hill against a tree. My Nissan is upside down. I crawl out, got a little blood coming down my head. Thought maybe I had a concussion, found out later I was fine. My Nissan was all crumpled up, the right front and left rear wheels were missing, the hood was wedged on a branch halfway up the hill, the spare tire on the back was all ripped up. Apart from a cut on my head (and a full pair of pants), I was fine. My truck was dead. Well, engine still worked....but, obviously...it wasn't going to be going anywhere without a flatbed truck. I also wasn't wearing a helmet. I WAS wearing a seatbelt. Doctor told me that if not for my seatbelt, they probably would have been scraping me off the hill along with my Nissan. I think I got off lucky, and your story (which I missed initially on Vinwiki) brought this memory to the forefront. Just figured you'd like to hear about it.

You live and learn rob, I’ve been ridding for 2 years. I rode for a bout 2 months and after I decided I want a high powered cc bike. Z900, not as bad as a gsxr 1000 but still a lot. 5 month into riding went to charahalla sky way. Crash my bike in a similar way. Had to find out how to get back to Tampa with a broken leg and a broken bike. Never give up brother.

Auto world's #1 story teller. Last bike I got was a new Honda CBX after learning on a 125cc Yamaha and then a 500cc street bike. I learned an important lesson on the CBX - NEVER ARMOR ALL A MOTORCYCLE SEAT! Almost slid off the back while accelerating so hard my fingers came off handlebars. Not good.

Similar experience Rabbit, 2012 I broke my right leg.. good news I did it barefoot waterskiing so I didn't have the grass and gravel problem you had...bad news it was my femur broken across the femoral head. The biggest part of the the biggest bone in my body! I knew that they would cut my $400 wet suit off so my buddy helped me get out of it..OUCH!.. when the ambulance showed up my biggest concern was that they didn't scratch my boat... doctor screwed me back together with what I describe as a small block Chevy cylinder head bolt, drywall screws, and joist hanger....did a month of rehab to learn how to walk again...feel your pain brother!.. 8 years later the trauma nurse stopped by my shop to see whatever happened to me... didn't expect me to not be in a wheelchair...

I had a good section of bone missing from my leg due to the wreck I was in as well. They claim it was replaced with a titanium rod, but the way my leg feels most of the time I think they gave me something out of the recycling bin instead. I had a lot of other injuries that added to the fun. One of which had me questioning what sort of hospital I was in where they didn’t seem to have any lightbulbs in the whole building. I soon discovered it was more of an issue to do with my vision (or lack there of) than the hospital’s lighting LOL. I am truly thankful your wreck wasn’t any more serious than it was. I spent over four months in the hospital, and I wouldn’t wish that upon anyone. Even though there was an amazing staff working there, it is just not somewhere anyone wants an extended stay. Kind of funny, but I also got in trouble for getting up and trying to walk before The doctors had cleared me. Leave it to Rabbit to tell an old story and it be just as entertaining. It’s scary listening to this story when it came out compared to now, my dad just had an accident on his dual sport and was actually super lucky but the amount of fear that went through my head racing my sn95 to the hospital scares me still a week later, now my dad is talking about selling his dual sport and my brother who was there and didn’t get into an accident is scared to the point he’s selling his dual sport as well.

I love this story cause I also had never been on a bike and my first one was a full custom GSXR 750. I had no choice but to ride it to work when my s10 broke and it was 17 degrees outside. I froze my buns off and almost killed myself but I loved that thing haha

I can't listen this story any more. Since the first time I heard it, my dad (a logger) had someone basically drop a tree on him and nearly tore his leg off. They had to do the same "nail" procedure to his leg. I can't get that image of his leg out of my head.

Rob I want to thank you this story saved me $5.000 On a transmission for my Ford Focus. I had an extended warranty it 5k miles before it was supposed to end . Well the service writer says ah yea dude there's no way . I said well ok I called up Ford warranty I explained what happened and so low n behold I get to would you like to do the survey deal why yes I would .What is the ladys name who helped me she was extremely nice to me . Well next thing I know after writing a letter on the web page from doing the survey. They are now going to fix my trans they not only fixed it the gave me a brand new unit . The service writer said dude I don't know how you did this everyone is takling about your car .He said the service manager was called by Ford and told you will replace this trans under warranty and you will give him a new one . He said they were fighting over this and he was not happy . Oh and they didn't have any focous left for a loaner . So they had to give me a new Explorer for a month So I did have to pay for some kind of engine gasket or some crap but needless to say I got it done son . And its because of this story . So thank you Sir Big Country Rabbit.

motorcycles are still cool, and yea I've had my crashes but still love em. I do that sometimes, like if I get pizza delivered, and it's good and the delivery person was nice... I call the place asking for the manager, kinda gruff, like I want to bitch somebody out...when the manager gets on the line, I tell them what a good job they did.. you can hear a change in their voice, they get on the phone expecting to be bitched at, then suddenly somebody is telling them how well they did, freaks em out. I look at it like this, I would call if it was bad, so why not when it's good. I have written letters as well. if nothing else it kind freaks em out, and that's always fun. Last time I was in the hospital, the nurses were so good to me it was unbelievable. one saved my ass, by acting quickly when I went into cardiac arrest due to allergic reaction to the anesthetic so I love nurses, always have... but that's another story.

If you knew who had blown the grass clippings out into the middle of the road you know you could have sued him i have an issue with people grass clippings on the road and they're sprinklers getting the road wet I've laid down the bike mid corner when I come into it and suddenly part of the corners pavement sweat it's no fun I got 13 tons of screws holding money together and it take any mud sounds like we might have something common

Nope had several procedures paid for by the hospital they have a fund that they use for ppl who don't have insurance and sometimes they'll pay it off sometimes just a part of it either way it helps and no matter what that letter mattered to someone!
