I always come to these videos by Frank Ford to see my time in Vietnam 54 years ago.

I traveled this road many times during my two tours in Vietnam. The first time was in late February 1967. My unit, the 632 HEM out of Ft. Bragg, NC, had disembarked from the USNS Barrett at Vung Tau earlier in the day. We flew from there to Bien Hoa, mounted vehicles then convoyed down to Cholon. Seeing the cement plant in this video brought back images in my mind. At about this point on the highway we got our first view of the Saigon skyline against a late afternoon sun.

I was at Newport Deepdraft #3 31 January 1968. Newport bridge was a bit messy the following morning and Hwy 1 back to Long Binh. Flight out of Bien Hoa back home delayed per rocket attacks two weeks later. Eldest son and family now in Da Nang teaching English as a secondary language. Planning to visit from current assignment in East Africa.

Rest in Peace Frank Ford producer narrator of this series. Frank was a gentle soul. He married popular S VN CBC band's singer Bich Loan to facilitate her and the band to get exit visas to leave Vietnam. Loan and band now live in Texas. He also led a group of S Vietnamese to safely by hiking with them from Vietnam to Laos. He lived in Bangkok until his passing in Aug 2015. RIP brother.

Wow, this is 5 years ago, hope you're still around to read this. I was stationed at Tan Son Nhut at Saigon 1970-71 and just loved the videos of this series. I wondered about the narrator and would have loved chatting with him, I'm sure he had tons of stories to tell. I wish he were around so I could tell him just how much I loved this brilliant series. RIP Frank Ford

CO C 720th MP 1972-1973..This was my patrol route daily, down the main drag from Long Binh through BienHoa city, I can remember the awful stench and the nausea from just swallowing 20-25 tetracycline pills, hoping that would keep me safe from the dreaded diseases thàt were rampant, and my partner, SGT Ronnie Plaster laughing at me. Oops we just hit another dog!

Hi! I am searching for my dad's biological father. He was stationed in Long Binh VN in 1971 and may have in Tay Ninh in 1972. My grandma says his name was possibly Miller and she remembers the number 62 and letter d in regards to his military numbers. She didn't know what they represent exactly though. She also mentioned he had long blonde hair, might have been in his early 40s in 72 and he would have known her as Dong or Dam Thi Ho. That's really all she remembers. I would appreciate if you can point me in the right direction!

There are apartments in Cholon where U.S. soldier resides beyond the Capitol and its adjacent building on Dong Khanh Boulevard. Perhaps you might try on those spots.
