Most Nigerians behave even worse than this fool. When the majority of citizens sell their votes for a few cups of rice or ₦5,000, what can you expect? Some people even vote against their own interests on credit, only to be scammed later. Nigeria didn’t become a mess by accident; the situation today is the result of years of poor choices and systemic corruption. The problem goes deeper than just the transactional nature of voting. It reflects a society where poverty and desperation have been weaponized, making people prioritize short-term survival over long-term prosperity. Many citizens are disillusioned with the political system, feeling that meaningful change is impossible regardless of who is in power. This hopelessness leads to a vicious cycle where the same corrupt leaders are recycled, further entrenching the system of exploitation. Moreover, the lack of accountability and civic education exacerbates the problem. Many people don't fully understand the power of their vote or the consequences of electing incompetent leaders. Until there’s a collective awakening and a commitment to prioritizing the greater good over immediate gratification, the cycle of poor governance and widespread suffering will persist.
