Hussain Haqqani works for Hudson Institute, which describes itself on their website as «Hudson Institute is a research organization promoting American leadership for a secure, free, and prosperous future.» Fair enough, but American interests are not always Pakistans interests. But a very much needed podcast indeed. People know him through the military’s narrative of him being a traitor which people no longer buy. We needed to hear this mans own voice. Thank you.

@@AsadAli-el5fy well, how fast u called me an extreme Muslim, definitely good judging skills, btw u r showing ur own lack of knowledge, Islam clearly disowns things like "Pan-islamism" since Islam has to be spread by peace unless the other nation tries to oppress it, only then one can fight against that nation on the name of Islam, so saying that Islam supports "Pan-islamism" or terrorism is the same as saying that Germans support nazism, secondly, Islam has nothing to do with directing a nation to a wrong path, rather in the ottoman state whoms constitution was based on Islam led the world medically, economically, and by other aspects of technology, not only that but the modern algebric and (0 and 1) binary system were built with great contributions by Abassids who invested heavily in research of knowledge and build the biggest libraries world had seen at that time where books of knowledge from all over the world were translated into Arabic and then read by arabs, Islam clearly promotes education, Technology, and knowledge, not only that but Islam also promotes curiousity since the god himself says to do research, discover the hidden secrets of the universe, and never believe something without doing proper research about it, Islam also promotes asking counter questions, literally almost every aspect of modern education, and the courage to advance economically is supported by Islam, I don't know why people like you think that removing Islam from constitution will fix everything, Islam believes in democracy since for your knowledge, all the early and rightful leaders of Islam, the caliphs were chosen after voting, not in the modern form but still it was a form of democracy that people of the state had to choose between various people to lead them, other than that, Islam also allows people of all religions to live peacefully, do their thing, just with a jizya tax which is a very small amount of the whole income, comes around at 5$ per month if someone lives in Europe, instead of blaming Islam, pose questions and have a logical debate, and lastly these Mullahs and molvis are disowned by Islam, rather they are enemies of it who have left the right path

Secularists and liberals' myopic perspective renders their so called intellectualism fumbling in the face of the state vacuum (leadership absence and ambiguity) invariably leaving them blame everything on Islam and unchecked islamic intervention in politics as a way of channelising inner biase against theocracy and Islamic constitution. السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته! انتہائی معلوماتی گفتگو تھی جس سے بہت کچھ سیکھنے کو ملا۔ چند گزارشات عرض کرنا چاہوں گا۔ 1) محترم حقانی صاحب کا یہ کہنا کہ "ریاست کو نظریے کے ساتھ نہیں باندھ سکتے" تو پھر کیا "ریاست مدینہ" کا بحیثیت ریاست اسلامی نظریہ نہیں تھا؟ جب کہ ہم تو یہ سمجھتے ہیں کہ اسلام ایک دین ہے جو صرف نماز، روزے اور حج وغیرہ انفرادی عبادات اور چند رسومات تک محدود نہیں بلکہ اس کا اپنا سیاسی، معاشی، معاشرتی اور عدالتی نظام ہے۔ اور اسلام ہی ایک ایسا دین ہے جس میں دیگر مذاہب کے ماننے والوں کے لئے تمام بنیادی حقوق ثابت ہیں۔ اور اسی طرح اسلام اپنے ماننے والوں کو اس بات کی تاکید کرتا ہے کہ وہ اسلامی نظام روئے زمین پر نافذ کرنے کی پوری کوشش کریں۔ اسی لئے نبی علیہ الصلوۃ والسلام کے مقاصد بعثت کو جب سورہ صف میں بیان کیا گیا تو اس میں " ليظهره على الدين كله" کہا گیا ہے۔ یعنی رسول کو دنیا میں بھیجنے کے مقاصد میں سے ایک اسلام ( اسلامی نظام) کا پورے عالم میں غلبہ ہے۔ اور میری رائے کے مطابق بغیر ریاست کے غلبہ کیسے ہو گا؟؟ کیونکہ امر بالمعروف اور نہی عن المنکر کا اعلی درجے ( ہاتھ سے برائی کو روکنا۔۔۔) کا اختیار اور حدود و قصاص کا نفاذ اور دیگر ریاستی احکام تو اسلامی ریاست کے لئے ہیں۔ اسی طرح محترم حقانی صاحب کا نصاب میں مذکور ملکی تاریخ پر گفتگو بھی یقینا قابل توجہ ہے۔ کیونکہ ہم تو یہی پڑھتے ہیں کہ پاکستان بنانے والوں کا ایک ہی نعرہ تھا " پاکستان کا مطلب کیا؟ لا إله إلا الله " اور اسی طرح اگر ایک سیکولر ملک کا حصول ہی مقصد تھا تو پھر متحدہ ہندوستان سے جدا ہونے کی کیا وجہ تھی؟؟ کیا ہم یہ کہنے کی جسارت کر سکتے ہیں کہ ہمارے سیاسی رہنماؤں نے ہمیشہ عوامی مینڈیٹ حاصل کرنے کے لئے دین اور دینی شخصیات کا سہارا لیا اور جب اپنا مفاد حاصل ہوگیا تو دین اور دیندار طبقے سے نظریں بدل لیں!!!
