It's not in your head man. Smooth leather pads seal against the head better, which can make the low end more forward. Velour pads leak so the bass isn't as forward.

Did you say the Full 2 could or couldn't power it? (was tricky to hear what you said). I'm running standard T50rp Mk111 though a Full 2 at the moment and it seems to be powering it fine (less than half volume), but I wonder if I'm missing something. I have a magni/modi combo at home which I could try it on...

I dont know if anyone would see or care to comment but would you recommend these or the argons for metal? I mainly like melodic and death metal but i also listen to other types of music like rap, industrial and movie soundtracks. I have the hd600, hd6xx and 58xx.
@makunouchiippo816
@makunouchiippo816 Жыл бұрын
Metal in general needs bass for drum kicks for example. And both of them have enough bass so you don't have to worry about that. Also the speed is important (how fast the headphones can produce a sound). Majority of people will tell you that Argons are the way to go but you always have to keep in mind that it will take several weeks until the modding is done and I read quite a few times that some people regretted doing it.

@@makunouchiippo816 thanks for this, been a while since I posted this but I ended up getting argons, waited for months. Got them and ended up not liking the treble sadly.. looking back I kinda blame my amp and wish I didnt sell them, perhaps buy and try them again someday. But I mainly use IEMs now so I may not revisit them.
@makunouchiippo816
@makunouchiippo816 Жыл бұрын
@@ItsJustChase Ah that's too bad (from a financial perspective). But as long as you managed to find a way to enjoy your favourite music it's all good I guess. 🙂 And yes it's true... They are very power hungry so you will end up buying an amplifier + DAC with the extra cost of maye 200-300$. This is the reason I won't buy the Dekoni Blue even though they would suit my music taste (deathcore, metalcore, japanese rock etc.). I simply can't afford it lol.
@ItsJustChase
@ItsJustChase Жыл бұрын
@@makunouchiippo816 yeah, I dont blame you. If you are in the market for an iem that suits heavier metal the tripowin piccolo is honestly perfect for that. No treble issues from vocals or cymbal strikes and its only 35 USD
@makunouchiippo816

@@ItsJustChase Yes I saw someone mentioned those on the headphones subreddit and they look promising. But there are a few problems with IEMs atleast for me. 1.) IEMs in general are hurting my ears. Not just the canal but also the outer ear. I just hate wearing them. 2.) I want to listen to all my stuff on a desktop PC so I need a longer cable. An IEM cable would be too short even though there are probably options to extend them. 3.) I couldn't even use them on my phone because it doesn't have a headphone jack. Also I don't own a digital audio player or something else and these things are really expensive. I was looking like Kermit the frog when I saw these prices for the very first time lol. But still thank you for the tip. Maybe I will consider them later if I have the option to atleast try them out.

Why no Tubes on a planar ?
@thiscorrosion900
@thiscorrosion900 5 жыл бұрын
Supposedly a lot of people complain that planar headphones don't sound as good or sound awful with tube amps, I have no idea, since I haven't run anything through a tube amp yet. I think that sounds absurd, given how many audiophiles invest in planars for the overall quality, and a lot of them swear by tube amps. But if you're gonna invest in planars, esp. high end ones, you'd better demo them with both first.

On massdrop? Fostex TR-X00. TH-X00. TH-500RP. And a little way back they did the T-X0 which was a t50rp mk2 ($150 btw). The dekoni blue may not be the only t50rp mk3 we will get.

They now only give you the one pair of earpads and list the MSRP on their site at 300 bucks lol. Totally a ripoff vs just getting a stock $150 Fostex pair and buying a pair of the earpads. You'd spend less and have two earpad pairs.
@makunouchiippo816
@makunouchiippo816 Жыл бұрын
That's not entirely true. If you buy the "normal" Fostex then it will be that way: First you will find out that you will need a powerful amp. If you purchased one for maybe 150-200$ you will experience a WOW factor because it sounds good. Then you will find out that the stock pads will hurt your ears. So people will tell you to either get the Shure pads or some others based on their subjective opinion like Sheepskin or Brainwavez etc. These will cost you something in between 40-70$. After that you will start reading about modding. So you will maybe buy the mayflower kit or maybe you will figure out something else. This will be another 30-40$. After doing the mod stuff you will be happy for a few days until you will find out that all these mods made the headphone extremely heavy. You will maybe figure out that the sub-bass is somehow lacking so you will start buying lambskin pads for another... maybe 70$. You will figure out that the bass is present now but because of the pad change the mids don't sound spectacular anymore. From here on you should ask yourself if all this modding was really worth the extra money. Because in my opinion it's not. It's better to find a headphone where you don't have to do all this stuff and still be happy about the original sound of the headphone. Edit: Almost forgot to mention: You can get the Dekoni Blue for almost 200$ now. A little bit more. The cheapest I saw was for 220$. So the second pair of velour pads they don't give away is pretty much that price they were going down.

Would a Sound BlasterX G6 power these properly? I ask because it has two "gain" modes: Low gain for up to 150 ohms, and High gain for up to 600 ohms. Is it harmful to drive these at high gain? I just ask because you explicitly stated that you need an amplifier for these, and I have a Sound Blaster X G6.
