I've been looking for a closed back that can replace my Fostex TH-X00 Ebonys, these seem like a good replacement

Love the mention of Geoff Castellucci, super underrated bass and singer.

This was amongst my 3 favs at one of the can jams. Zach and his team were some of the most helpful and most humble at the show. It also sounded fantastic with their beautiful homage amp and sounded great with many different genres of music. Unfortunately the pressure on my jaws was a dealbreaker; otherwise, I would've gotten it.

I love my debut 1st run Bokeh (#99). It's such an incredible headphone and doesn't cost an absurd amount of money. Expensive yes, but it's worth every dollar in my opinion. I've demoed ZMF's Caldera closed and many other headphones that cost 2-5x the amount of Bokeh, and I prefer the Bokeh.

I heard the bokeh open at axpona on a Geshelli a3 pro, then I bought the A3, now I need the bokeh open, tax return??? Thanks Josh!!! And thanks to Zack and the whole zmf family for the great convo at the show too!!! They were almost as much fun as the Geshelli family 😊

Bokeh is my favorite closed-back as well. Replaced my long-time favorite Audioquest NightOwl. It's a heavy headphone, but the weight is distributed better than any other heavy headphone I've tried. It's ZMF's best value headphone and I'm glad it's getting some attention.

Bokeh is my current most used ZMF in my collection too! Love it! It doesn’t beat the Atrium closed… but it’s just so easy to get along with I forget to swap it out with the Atrium closed.

Hello. Does anybody know for a fact if for high quality music does also matter the source, for example Spotify vs somewhere else, and also the sound card of the pc/laptop. I feel that too much attention goes to headphones and amps, but this parts that I`ve mentioned are forgoten. All the best !

I'll be the irritating guy who corrects your pronunciation. But, in my defense, I've been irritated for years by photo youtubers who also mispronounce this word. It's a Japanese word and it has a super simple pronunciation: it rhymes with "okay". It means blurry, unclear. It was adopted by the photo community to refer to pleasingly out-of0focus areas around an in-focus subject. It's not pronounced boe-kah or boe-kuh, and it's not a good name for a headphone. I still want these ZMFs, however.

The simple headband, too. I had the Ananda stealth for a day, and I could not deal with the pressure it put on the top of my head.

Thank you Josh for this well-detailed review! I am honestly going to look into getting the Bokeh in the future. The wooden ear cups are just gorgeous that ZMF put together. I will use a budget amp to connect to my PC to watch KZbin videos. I currently own an AB1266 Abyss headphone. I am saving up for an endgame DAC and amp setup to plug the 1266 and the TV while gaming. I hope your child is happy and healthy, I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving, Josh.

I've tried these a couple of times at Canjam London (in 2023 before they had a name, and in 2024 when they'd be named) They're pretty good and are only beaten by the Sony MDR-Z1R if you want this sort of signature. They're similar sounding to my Beyerdynamic DT177X GO.

Hey Joshua! I love the Bokeh's, but if you haven't tried them yet you should get your hands on the XTC 2.5 Closed Back from JMAudio, they are pretty phenomenal closed and the Open's are awesome as well

I’ve had the Bokeh for a few months now and have to agree with everything in this video. The tonality and timbre stands out to me the most as everything sounds so natural and real. The mid range is so lifelike and the bass is present and hard hitting without muddying anything. Highs are great too without being harsh. I have it paired with a tube amp as well, but with the protein pads, and have stopped chasing gear since getting it and it’s all about the music now. The tuning is just perfect for music. The ZMF team is so nice and easy to work with also. They deserve all the praise and success they have!

So I might finally pull the trigger into the Hifi headphone game with this. If so, what other gear/stack would I need to actually run these and take advantage of their sound. I assume you wouldn’t just plug right into an iPhone or MacBook Pro. Looking to stay cost conscious for my entry into the space. Follow up: I have a pair of Audeze Maxwells, that I bought off your link 👊, for my gaming headphones. How do these compare musically? Another level? I assume so as I’ve never owned a pair of open back and imagine I would fall in love with the soundstage advantage Been following you for years man. Thanks for this!

These or Atticus?
@Smitty_Werbenjagermanjenson3 сағат бұрын
I once had the Atticus and liked them, but I didn't love them. The tuning was great for my tastes (strong midrange and relaxed treble), but the detail resolution wasn't anything special, especially for its price. I sold it because I felt I got slightly better results just EQ'ing a DCA Aeon X Closed to taste, and cheaper too. Also, I found that the Atticus' headband and earpads, while comfortable and pillowy, got hot quickly and would really irritate me within 30 minutes of listening. Between the Atticus and the Bokeh, I would try the Bokeh. Just the 2 cents of a stranger on the internet; enjoy your headphone hunt!

I just bought these a month ago for the price you mentioned. However returned them not due the sound quality but I found them uncomfortable due to their massive sized frame and weight. Sucks cause I did find them very clean and detailed. Mids > awesome ,Highs > great but I stuggled to hear lows well running off my Yamaha Receiver. I love the bass my Beyer Dynamic DT770's produce ,but different style ,I know. Maybe I my try different HIFiman's in the future that adjuct smaller on the head. and I don't have a small head! LOL Cheers! Great video!
@ClassiClick4 сағат бұрын
Bought them for 250-ish usd at where I'm from in Malaysia through Taobao, and it is legit the best audio purchase I ever made period. When I was looking for a Hifiman set, a lot of people recommended the Sundara to me, but looking at the price then a month ago, it is even cheaper than the Sundara but at a higher level of sound quality, it's just a straight buy for the XS.

What Id like headphone people cover more is ease of repair. Epos is closed, while this is an established product that you can buy spare parts for. It also doesnt have a mic which is often the first component to break. This is good. A modmic or desk mic is better anyway. Beyerdynamic has an extensive repair catalogue that is easily accessible.
