A cool thing you can do with delay pedals with multiple outs (like a stereo delay) is sending one of the outputs to the delay’s input and sending the other output to your amp. This gives you a cool feedback loop that you can control with the repeat and time knobs.

I’m assuming that you’re talking about a delay with stereo ins? To go from one out to the second input?

Modern guitarists get obsessed with reverb pedals, only to find (or if they’re unaware, their sound guys are the ones) reverb usually, often if controlled by the guitarist, just bury their guitar in the mix, while that spacious sound they want that’s in their head actually comes from first stacking one or two delays then a reverb if you happen to need it (often in a live setting, you don’t). Especially, if you use a longer, subtly mixed-in modulated delay, it becomes ridiculously spacious, but you don’t just get buried in a mix like reverb usually does. If you can trust your sound guy enough, leave verb up to them. I used to be in a small community of worship band guitarists (that style of music is famous for crazy amounts of verb) in college, and all of them would buy the $500 strymon big sky, just to use the most boring setting on it and mix it so high you could no longer hear the guitar in the mix. Meanwhile, playing the same kind of music, as far as time based effects go, I used a boss digital delay and a DOD Rubberneck (a really awesome memory man-style modulated analog delay) and our sound guy would tell me things like “during the set, your reverb sounded amazing”, just to turn around and tell him I wasn’t even using a reverb pedal. Reverb ≠ space. Only caveat to that I’d say is a really light, subtle shimmer reverb. But if you just want space, get a really good modulated delay, then start stacking other delays and go from there. If you don’t believe me, try it.

In my satan worship bands we went totally dry. No effects, full gain

@@Ottophil You should turn to Jesus...and help make church worship music sound better.😂 (I wrote that comment and am in those circles a lot, but I'm actually mostly an alternative/metal/rock guy)

I also like putting delay with pitch shifter for a note or two, gives wonderful chorus. Also that oscillation thingy is really cool!

Thanks, the delay on my blackstar works as a faux reverb now for me.

i made a song with a delay pedal. i don’t even think i played a guitar into it. i think i used a mic, but i set the delay to infinite and i swear it literally made frog sounds. still one of my favorite songs i’ve made. i wish i still had the original tracks for it so i could remix it

Youre the first person ive ever seen besides myself use a delay pedal for that last one, whats more fun is to combine effects with it (i prefer a shit ton of extra delay and reverb and a pitch shifter)
