Hey, del quick one for you; I adjust my chain to correct tension and after observing the slack after a couple days it surprisingly tight...? Any idea?
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 8 жыл бұрын
+Zee Treqz Hi mate, when you check the tension a few days ago thinking it to be correct, did you did this with the axle fully tightened up?? OR, did you check the tension at the point where you set the adjustors, and then just tighten the axle and walk away??....... often, when you tighten the axle nut, it can pull the chain a little tighter... if this happens, just set it a little lose before you tighten up and that will leave it correct !

I love this! Ugly duckling indeed! I'm fiddling with a -00 Legend, making it into a street/caféish bike. Fitted with green cams from a Speed triple. Good lord, what a difference! Thanks to you Del, I have this mantra "Can we build it? Yes we can!" ...or was that Bob? ;-)

You Sir, are probably going to cost me a substantial investment ;). I will probably be buying my old CBR back of a mate in order to start a 'Rat Fighter' project because of your videos. Much inspiration. Thanks. P.S. a while back you told me to upload a video of my rat bike project. This will be going up very soon hopefully. But I've already featured it in my most recent video. Check it out if you have a minute. Cheers!

The bike looks great, nice to see it rolling again. I just joined the Kawasaki family today with a 2001 zx6r so I'm even more interested in the build now. No Plans to fighter it yet though. Adjustable pre-load on the scrambler for a quarter of the price triumph sounds like a no brainier. Do You plan on running a headlight or daytime MOT only?
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 8 жыл бұрын
+englishandproud11 Hi Matteo, well done on the ZX6, have a watch of some of theRide of the Century videos, just about every second bike is a 6R, they are so disgustingly thrashable, that it's obscene lol - they seem totally indestrucible..... so just watch a few videos and you'll be buying a crash cage next week, then we can see who pulls the best wheelies ! And I intend to run full lights mate, as day time MOT's are a pain in the arse .. however legal they are, the coppers won't leave you alone because ANPR doesn't show up your day time status, not only that, sometimes it's fun to play after dark lol !

Hie friend, nothing to do about the video, lovely as always , by any chance do you know what kinda carbs i could fit on a Suzuki Bandit '95 (400cc), or if you know of someone selling one of those and shiping them overseas to chile. i have a friend who wants to restore his brother first bike, and bike has been from one side to another trying to be fixed and somewhere they stole the carbs, so main thing we need is the carb to set the motor to run... if you by any chance happend to know abot that please let me know. Thank you in advance.
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 8 жыл бұрын
+David Alberto Contreras Miranda Hi David, I'm not sure what carbs would fit your Bandit 400, but there were a whole lot of Japanese 4-cylinder 400cc's shipped out of Japan during the mass clear out of the 1990's... and they were all basically the same kinda bike, 4-stroke, 4-clyinder, 400cc... the best option would be to look around for cabs from other 400cc Japanese models, they should basically fit, you may just have to create a bracket, or two, to make them fit.. the carbs are 'side draft', not down draft, so things like the Yamaha FZR400's , or Honda CBR 400's, would probably not fit, but Yamaha made the XJR400, they might work... Kawasaki made the ZXR400, and even the little ZRX400... so basically, check out any other 400 Japanese import bikes that have carbs that look similar and you may be able to adapt those from there ! Good luck

+Tim van Gool Hey buddy, if I can get away with it, I don't want a speedo at all... maybe thinking GPS option and I've never really been a fan of the whole monster masks type front ends, they're a bit done to death, cool, but common... so gonna make my own front furniture and am planning on hiding the light for day time use... but all just plans, it will evolve by itself !

@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 8 жыл бұрын
+Gearjammer Hi buddy, no, using 7/8th alloy bars, you can't drill them for wiring, it's ok with 1" steel bars on a Harley, or custom, but am using Renthals and they are gonna be so short, they'll look tidy enough !

I live the way stripping off the fairings and slapping on some renthals makes a bike suddenly look a million times better. Can't wait to see the finished build as had a few fighters in my time with there share of bodges to fix, something to try next is to do one myself. What you doing with exhaust and seat unit as looks good almost bare bones as it is?

@martincarey8620
@martincarey8620 8 жыл бұрын
+LoganPicks Hi. You fit one on each side, so that you can lift up the back of the bike using a paddock stand (like the one he removed in the video)... You need them on sports bikes as they don't have centre stands these days, meaning you can't get the back wheel off the ground.
@loganpicks7266
@loganpicks7266 8 жыл бұрын
+Martin Carey Thanks. I always assumed the stand used the rear wheel nuts.
@martincarey8620
@martincarey8620 8 жыл бұрын
No, the stands have hooks on them that hook around the bobbins. The stands are adjustable so they are quite universal. Very handy for removing the back wheel, and also good for adjusting the chain, because if yu do have a centre stand, the rear swing arm and suspension droop, meaning you can't adjust the tension correctly. Del has videos on that too

+Myles Berg Hi buddy, I believe you can get rubber grommets on Ebay, it's the kind of thing used for car engine bay fire walls, they come in all sizes, just have a search on Ebay, or maybe, for about £25, you could run to the TEC bike parts headlight brackets, which remove the tin shrouds all together, just an option??

@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 8 жыл бұрын
Hi buddy, you have to route the throttle cables through the left hand side of the headstock, otherwise they are too tight, and become kinked... and the clutch hose fits perfectly in these drag bars... hope that helps !

+phil bradley Thanks Phil, it's all good fun, a project is a long road and you learn over the years that cutting corners to get it finished just bites you in the arse later, and you end up regretting not doing it properly !

+springy 2112 ...ain't it just ! CHeck 'em out... Ohn from the band contacted us and asked if we'd use some of their music, they are in Germany, but John is English and he rides an 1100 Katana... and a proper one, not the American plastic covered touring bike thingy ... I mean the 80's muscle bike one ! They promote themselves as a punk band, but listen through their list, they are more skinhead to me! ..Pure class!
