Chick-a-Woof Ranch thanks for watching! I actually save all banana peels and when I go out to feed and milk I give it to them. They about run me over to get to them 😂 It’s been a good way to get them used to them and then when I give the blouses they slurp them up :)

Sheri Commo Excellent! I have two goats I still have to make take the banana pieces but I take out all my banana peels to them and am winning them over to like bananas. So if yours don’t take them right away just get them used to bananas before you need to give copper again. 😊

My does were showing signs of early copper deficiency. No one liked bananas or the no bake goat cookies I've seen on other channels. I ended up putting the correct dosing for each goat over a small amount of sweet feed. They licked up the copper along with the sweet feed! That's an easy way to do it too. One of my Nubian does is black on top & turning reddish halfway down! She was a recent purchase along with her doeling & I had to copper her too.
@DelcifromALifeofHeritage5 жыл бұрын
Oh that’s great! I had to train my goats to like bananas. It took a bit for one goat to decide she liked them but when all the other goats were scrambling for the peels, she felt like she was missing out lol But that’s great you figured out a way to do it! Thanks for sharing!

I’ve never given my goats copper supplements. I know it’s in the feed and I put a variety of mineral blocks out. I’ve been raising goats for probably 7 or 8 years now. My environment must be good for them. I also give them a tub made for goats to lick. They eat them up.

Hi Delci! I love your videos; they’ve helped me tremendously!! I need your help with one of my nigerian dwarf does, Peaches. She had a spout of diarrhea and her famacha score was very low, so we’ve been dosing with ivermectin and probiotics orally for multiple days, some days I dosed twice. Yesterday, I gave her 4g of copper and B12 she has had electrolytes in her water for about a week. I believe the diarrhea has stopped but she is still lethargic and her fur is frizzed, and eating feed and hay minimally. My question - how often can I supplement with ivermectin and copper? Specifically copper. I don’t want to over do her treatment but I want to get her healed up quickly because I hate seeing her uncomfortable. Please help!!
@DelcifromALifeofHeritage4 жыл бұрын
How is your goat doing after worming? I would only worm if it's needed. As a whole, we are creating super worms that are resistant to wormers when we just worm to worm. So only give wormer if they have worms. And the copper really depends on what you are feeding and their diet as a whole. The best way for goats to have a good supply of copper is to have them eating it in their regular diet. So have a really good good source and loose minerals out at all times.

How do you test the boluses water to establish the sulphur and iron presence ?
@DelcifromALifeofHeritage3 жыл бұрын
You can have a sample of your water tested. Local extension offices have the kits and information where you can send your water to be tested.

When giving them copper bolus am I to weigh each goat and fix the copper according to their weight or just give the adult goats that’s 50 lbs and over one and the 25lbs and under the kid capsule?
@LifeSewCrazy5 жыл бұрын
I just purchased a doeling and she appears to be copper deficient. Born 3/10/2019, is she too young for a copper bolus?
@DelcifromALifeofHeritage5 жыл бұрын
It really does depend on what kind of feed she has been on and the minerals she had available and the minerals that the doe had available to her. But a doe can be given copper boluses when she is pregnant and it is safe to give a kid copper boluses (with the proper dosages) when their rumen is fully developed, which is around three months of age or so. So it would be fine to give her a bolus. It is slowly released into her system, so there wouldn't be a big influx of copper in her system at one time. Congratulations on your new doeling!
@luanahaigood2784 жыл бұрын
How often? You never mentioned.
@DelcifromALifeofHeritage4 жыл бұрын
Luana Haigood I can’t say how much. It depends on the goat and your location. Ask your local extension office or feed store if your area is low in copper. Or ask other local goat owners if it’s needed. If your water is high in iron or sulfur, your goats will probably need it. And watch for symptoms of copper deficiency. There’s a lot of factors for your area and goats that I don’t know because I don’t live there, so I can’t say a definite number. 😊

Hi, I’m from Bangladesh. I have a small goat firm. In Bangladesh there is no copper bolus to buy. But there is copper wire for electricity passing. If I cut the wire in a small pieces and give to my goat as 2 gm each, will it be worked?
@DelcifromALifeofHeritage4 жыл бұрын
No, the copper in the boluses is a special copper that dissolves slowly in the rumen. Is there any way to get minerals for goats over there? Or are there plants that are higher in copper?
@anudiuete4 жыл бұрын

@DelcifromALifeofHeritage5 жыл бұрын
I would always have loose mineral available for them. A pelleted feed with minerals added may not be enough. Free choice gives them the ability to get what they need. And mineral blocks aren’t good for goats either. If you’d like more info you can definitely get all the nitty gritty on goat mineral here: alifeofheritage.com/farm-living/goat-mineral-guide/ It will answer all your questions 😊
