I'm to the point where I think it's time for me to retire from goats or at least take my herd down to just a few and look into inducing lactation with hormones without breeding. They just die too easy where we live in Indiana, especially the bucks. I just lost yet another star buck, probably to pneumonia as the temps jumped up from sub zero to 30 in 2 days. I had just saved him from barberpole this past fall, first buck I've ever been able to save from bp as they're resistant to chemical wormers here, only to lose him anyway. I have 3 of his sons, one of which I was going to keep as a backup and sell the other two, and 9 currently pregnant does, two of which are for sale. I've spent thousands on bucks and I'm not buying any more.

I tried before to use a chainsaw but used it the wrong way using the bottom of the bar. Was a disaster and immediately wound hay around the sprocket and bound it up so it wouldn’t run! Used the top of the bar like you showed in your video and it worked perfectly!!! No hay wound around the sprocket. Saved my daughter so much work. Thank you so much !

I don’t know if you remember me, I commented on a post once about a baby newborn kid my dad brought home that didn’t make it the night. Well I have 2 baby goats that were triplets now. They are about 1 years now and they will be a big breed so they still have a year of growing to do. I love them so much and can’t wait to start my goat adventures with them. I really love and enjoy your videos a lot and it’s teaching me so much

I found hotwire to be an invaluable addition to my goat fencing, especially for the bucks and kids that can fit through anything! For all goats I run it along just below the middle and it keeps them off the fence completely and along the top of the stalls walls so the bucks don't try to go over the wall. For kids I run it along the bottom. They learn very quickly to be well mannered goats LOL!

Delci, this video warms my heart. I'm a new goat mom and recently moved to Oklahoma from Montana about 7 months ago. I just got goats in November as a gift for buying our first property. This morning our cold is no comparison to Montana but still frigid. I just want to tell you that videos like this and the one prior about trust reach people. I find your teaching and human response to life so motivating. And remembering who my creator is and to release to him is such a great message. Thanks again.

Also, how did Josiah get the pig to obey his commands? When he rides, he kicks with his feet and smacks the pig on the butt. As an equestrian, I understand that this would be the equivalent of using heels and a crop on a horse. In Josiah’s case, which do you think the pig responded better to?

Who needs a pony when you can ride a pig? I’d rather have a pig!! Picture this: going out to the barn and greeting the pig. You then brush it before placing the saddle on its back and the bridle over its head. You then strap on your spurs and grab your whip before mounting. Then, you grab the reins. “Step up”, you say as you give the pig a gentle kick with your spurs and a tap on the bum with your whip. The pig grunts before carrying its rider down the trail. “Giddyup”, you say as you give the animal a harder kick with the spurs and a firm spank with the whip. The pig then begins to trot. Furthermore, when people visit the farm, you offer pig rides. Anyone can. Ride a horse or a pony, but who can ride a pig?

Well, I'm a few months from purchasing a number (70+) Nubian Goats to start a new herd. My primary objective is to use the milk to make cheeses. It has been a few years since I owned goats, but it doesn't appear much as changed with regard to udder and overall confirmation. I'm anxious to see what kind of quality Nubians I find in Colombia, S.A. where my finca is located. Thanks for your channel - keep the good intel coming!

If I could ride a pig, here is what I would do: I would train it to accept a rider. Then, I would train it to accept a saddle (preferably a western pony saddle, but english would also work). I would use a bitless bridle with reins to steer the pig when riding it. To give the animal commands when riding, I would wear boots with blunt spurs and carry a riding crop. It would be fun to go on a trail ride on a pig!

@@PacsunNichols he started when the pig was much smaller. He could just jump up on the back of the pig on his belly and swing a leg over. And these pigs were raised by us from birth so they were very friendly and they would lay down when we scratched their bellies. So it started with that and then he started getting on them. But do be careful with pigs. They are very big and very very strong and can be very dangerous if they get mean.

@@ZajafonZf it’s very easy! 1. separate the cream (we have a cream separator but you can do it by hand) 2. Put the cream in a mixer and mix it on high. 3. When the butter separates from the whey, pour off the whey 4. You’ll need to “wash” the butter next in clean water. Knead it in the butter to push out all of the whey. When the water is clean, you’re done! 5. You can add some salt to taste.
