Got my first pair of baby goats about a week ago, each was a few days old, and one started acting very lethargic, luckily my neighbor raises goats and was such a great help(paired with my goat binder) we determined it was parasites, so we dewormed him, gave him electrolytes and within days he’s back to his jumpy self!❤️💙

My goat starts having seizures then I act quickly and injected her with penicillin very aggressive For the first 2 days treating listeriosis and at the same time injected her with B1 for Polio. I continue the treatment for one week for both medications and I save her. I just saw her symptoms and check on line and act quick. She is good now. Thank you for this video.

We had a doe last year , she got super skinny very quickly like with in a week. I called the vet out because I suspected worms . He did a fecal and she had a super overload of worms . She almost died. He had us to a very intensive treatment rotating a goat dewormer and a horse dewormer for two weeks . It was like four treatments in two weeks and probiotics and keeping her hydrated . I had to go out and give her water with electrolyte with a syringe because she wasn’t really drinking much . She made it and it took five months to get her weight back up . Now she is pregnant and expecting in May . She was the only doe that had this problem . She was new doe we had just gotten so just goes to show you never know . Pay attention . Had I of not noticed she would be dead because she was in with the buck being bred and this was during fair week so we were gone a lot .

Excellent video with hugely important info. We are very wet here so although I check for worms fluke worm is our enemy here. You do your own worm checks, Iv not been brave enough to do that yet and although I have the microscope I havnt bought any of the necessary slides. Thanks xx
@DelcifromALifeofHeritage3 жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful! Even if you do still have the vet do the fecals you can start to just look at them under the microscope. You'll start to get familiar with what you are seeing and start to be able to identify the air bubbles, eggs and different kinds of eggs, debris, worms etc. It's quite fascinating! (in a gross sort of way 😆)

Hello :) You can buy minerals through Amazon and probably name brand feed suppliers. But I recommend going to your local feed store and purchasing the goat minerals they have. They will be specifically formulated for your area, taking into account the low and high minerals in your area. I would start there and see if you can get some from there :)

Hi can anyone help me I have a Nubian cross goat and I am currently milking her she kidded last week and 1 side is always to big for the kids to drink from but today when I milked her the milk on 1 side had a tinge of red through it it looked like light light pink and the other side was perfect can anyone help me and how to treat it because I am new and only have the 1 goat thanks
@aaronhenderson52993 жыл бұрын
She gets a lick bucket for sheep as where I am from goats isn’t to popular and a lot of great hay and a bit of nuts and a wee bit of sheep milking nuts and she can get her full of water the whole time
@DelcifromALifeofHeritage3 жыл бұрын
It’s possible she has mastitis. Is there a way the vets can help you test for that? And give you the correct antibiotics for the strain of bacteria if it is that? If it’s not that, sometimes if they produce a huge amount of milk it can burst a few capillaries in their udder. I have a doe like that. But I don’t see the red tinge until it’s sat in the fridge for a week. But definitely check for mastitis! And keep that side milked out really well.
