Also, I'd have been the a-hole yelling "Flowers Become Screens!" Because her low notes? Chills. Her singing Heaven's Earth and Till The End of Time--man, don't get me started. I could go on forever. Yes, there is also Silence, a masterpiece, but also probably the one track that many a non-Delirium fan heard at one point lol. All of Delirium's best performances were when Thirsk was lead. Man, she is so restrained as backup. When she leads is it's a thing of beauty. She is a thing of beauty. When she hits those high pitch wavers, like at 27:00 in, so hauntingly beautiful. I wonder if she ever performed opera? That might explain a lot. I mean, it's either that or she's a real life witch, with actual magic/ charms and the like lol.

I've been a big Kristy Thirsk fan for many years. You would never expect that big powerful voice could come out of that petite body. I was jealous of the people who got see this on the European tour, as the US tour had Leigh Nash alongside. My guess is the record label wanted to put her on the albums and tour because she had a few hits with her band. She's a fine enough vocalist on her own, but next to Kristy Thirsk, it's almost a little embarrassing. I definitely would have preferred just Kristy.
@kessilrun67546 ай бұрын
@@MichaelStrick9 Yep! Except I wouldn't call her voice big and powerful, as to me that would be someone maybe like Mary Clay, who does the backup vocals for Give Me Shelter, a Rolling Stones song, or Aretha Franklin, and to some extent, maybe even Beyonce. Kristy's voice is pure heavenly, but with a haunting twist. Like how you might imagine an Angel might sing. I kind of loved when she'd team up Shelley Harland. Most of those KZbin Videos are now gone though.

The credits are a little vague, but big thank you to whoever mixed this. This is a great mix. (Thomas Flemming or Bernd Abromeit?). Big ups to whoever the monitor engineer was too! This is probably as close as we will ever get to a "Kristy Sings The Hits" album. She is the voice of Delerium and the most versatile one on their roster. From soft to powerful, from airy to sassy, from low notes to soaring highs, she's the only one who could do all of these songs. Just being asked to do Lisa Gerrard parts is.... definitely a thing. When I saw this tour here in the states they had Leigh Nash along with Kristy. I would have preferred it just be Kristy. Anyone reading this not familiar with her band in the 90's, The Rose Chronicles, should definitely look up Awaiting Eternity.
@janhenrikbauer6 ай бұрын
Thomas mastered it and Bernd recorded it. The mix was done by the soundmen of the tour technically. Can't tell you who he was from my memory, but I do remember the lights guy was Rico and the tour manager was stijne edge from Benelux... Agreed this whole set w Kristy was top, but this concerns the whole band

@@janhenrikbauer So this was just Left-Right off of the house console, and not multi track? Wow. It hardly ever comes out this good on recording, as the guy mixing live is mixing for the room, not the recording. For the North America tour they had one of the Reely brothers mixing, I don't recall if it was Glen or Greg. I'll also agree with one of the other commenter, this is better than the official Epiphany live release.
@janhenrikbauer6 ай бұрын
@@MichaelStrick9 yes it was supposed to be multitrack but they couldn't do that as far as i remember. It wasn't Glen or Greg, I met Glen on 3 occasions in 2006+7. If you wanna know how this was done you could try to find Bernd abromeit online and ask him, he refused to work with me after this gig, which for me was driven by 100 percent enthusiasm and 0 sanity or budget concerns uargh

LOL poor Bill Leeb didn't want to get rained on. XD I would also really love to have this concert released on CD, along with the Epiphany live DVD. The tracklist seems more or less the same but the renditions of these songs are different, and "Lost and Found" is a new addition. Kristy Thirsk is one of my favorite Delerium vocalists and I love hearing her perform songs that she didn't actually sing on the studio recordings. It gives the songs a bit of variety from the album versions.

I wish theyd started touring after karma, not chimera. And lately it seems like every FLA and delerium album requires 6 years to make hmm.
@MarysiaKosowski2 жыл бұрын
@@janhenrikbauer That would've been amazing. Karma is my favorite Delerium album. I love all their output, including the "archives" albums (the first 7 and the Euphoric EP). Very different sound, but I like them all. Frontline Assembly is also great. I think I'm a weird fan though in that I love all their work, but prefer the newer albums (Semantic Spaces onwards). Most people tend to like "old" Delerium or "new" Delerium, and those who like everything seem to prefer their old work. I even loved Chimera, Nuages du Monde, and Music Box Opera, though Mythologie disappoints just a little because all the ethnic flavor is gone and it sounds more like mainstream pop. Rhys Fulber's recent Conjure One album also disappointed me because the music sounded so spare and most of it was devoted to one guest singer. Just a bunch of club beats and none of the lush textures I associate with Fulber and Leeb. I wonder what the new Delerium will sound like.

22:09 Not gonna lie - I've never been a huge Leigh Nash fan. I totally feel that she is deserving of her tracks in Delerium though, and I don't have a problem with her. But hearing Thirsk do this track is such a weird adjustment! I'm ok with it though. :D
@kessilrun6754 Жыл бұрын
Yeah... Kristy was a Delerium regular and possibly an original female vocalist for them. I at least know she had been doing stuff with them in their 97 (Karma?) album. I do prefer Kristy's versions of Jael's "After All" but maybe that's not quite fair because I'm comparing a more experienced Kristy to a very early Jael. Listen to Jael now, when she performs with Schiller. She's grown so much, vocally. It's perfection. If Jael has ever re-performed that song, within the past decade? I'm sure my opinion would change. Still, nothing beats what Kristy does with her voice. Flowers Become Screens, for example, makes me wonder if she has an opera background with her high pitch bits and he low voice gives me chills. Heaven's Earth, her voice is doing things I've never heard another singer do and, again, believe that might be because of some opera influence, using falsettos as a sort of rhythmic device and not just a sustaining thing.
