😭😭😭It was cut because it doesn't fit into the storyline very well, that's what I heard. I think this is the scene when Jasmine was waiting for Aladdin at the agreed garden, but Aladdin was already captured so he couldn't show up. The movie might not have enough time to show this masterpiece as it doesn't contribute too much to the storyline, or the sentiment of it will not match with the scene before and after it very well. This could have been one of the BEST Disney songs in history. SO SAD!

Omg that doesn't make any sense. This song is that one Jasmine plays on Aladdin's guitar/instrument (idk) at his house, then they talk about how their mothers used to sing it for them. It also show how both of them were sad for being apart aaaaaaaaa I love this song and hate that it was cut (IF THERE WILL BE AN ALADDIN 2 THIS SONG HAS TO BE IN IT SOMEHOW)

Fun fact for those who weren't in the live chat in the premier: this song is what Jasmine was strumming on the instrument in the scene where Jasmine and Aladdin are in his place at the beginning when they had this moment where he's like my mom taught me that song and shes surprised and says "mine too" and they just have this brief moment of just... wow we have *that* in common at least And if you like this check out the full version theres a whole second verse!

This song is amazing & beautiful & shouldn’t have been cut, but Speechless was amazing as well, so I disagree on cutting that song just to fit this one in. They should’ve found a way to fit Desert Moon into the movie. They are both deserving of being in the movie.

My reaction was the same, this song is INCREDIBLE. When I heard it after the movie came out I was obsessed, I loved the harmonies and especially how they flipped back and forth for who sang the main one. Gorgeous!!! I feel like this scene fit so perfectly in the movie because of the longing and emotion, I wish they didn't cut it.

I was so mad they cut this cuz it's such a good song (slightly better than Speechless 🙊), and I get the pacing issue...but it also shows their connection to their mothers. As for the lack of dynamics in Meena's singing, while nice and clear (i think he was a choir kid), he's not a vocalist like Naomi. So, he's physically not used to it nor knows how or when to artistically create those moments. It does kinda reflect the difference between Aladdin and Jasmine's social status, that he does enough to get by.

I'm actually trying to rewrite this song for another couple (not aladdin related in any way in the couple or the storyline) for a fanfiction so this is a happy coincidence that you are reacting to this today! Also although scuttlebutt wasn't really my thing I LOVED Wild Uncharted Waters (Eric's new song) and For the First Time (Ariel's new song)

Yes! This made me so upset because they filmed it! It's under 3 minutes! It's performed by two actors who can really sing. And they used PART of this song in Wild Uncharted Waters (and it's a part that poor Jonah strained to hit) which is beyond upsetting cause that made it in the movie. Sigh Hollywood choices.

Starts with “There’s a moon hanging high…” Ok now listen to Wild Uncharted Waters “Darkness bound, I had almost drowned, til you came around and you found me” Exact same melody. But slightly different tempo. Also fun fact: Ariel’s melody “Ah ah ah…” you know. Eric’s bridge of his song is the exact reverse. It's also hidden in "Her Voice" from the broadway show. Clever Menken, clever.

I can't believe how I've never heard this song before! I was so into the live action movie when it came out and had Speechless on repeat, how have I missed this song??! It's beautiful and I would have loved to see it in the movie. I understand if they cut it for story line reasons though, it's not pushing the story forward really in the same way other songs do, but as other commentators have said, it creates a connection between them. I need to find this song now!

I love this song, but as many have said, it was cut to keep the pace moving. The filmmakers thought it stopped the movie, but it was released as a single outside of the soundtrack. As a filmmaker, I may have kept it if I felt it better emphasized their romance.

Ok, real reason, money, Guy Richie was under major pressure from Disney to keep this under budget, hence why Speechless was done in one take, he asked Naomi to try, she nailed it, Guy tried to get this song in, but Disney said, to much money to pay the writer, i'm from Liverpool, had a mate who worked on production, said they cut all the corners.

Amazing video! I also loved thing song~ I recently watched Emily Blunt's (Lin Manuel Miranda's in it too!) version of Mary Poppins, and she and the cast do some great songs in that! A little recommendation for you in the future, but I absolutely loved your reactions to the little mermaid songs as well!

I think having this song in the movie would have slowed down the pacing of the movie, which is a shame because it is a lovely song. 🥰 When watching your critique of their singing I realized that while Mena sings very well, Naomi is more dynamic and really inserts a lot of emotion into her singing while he sings things more straight and technical? Someone will have to correct me, but I think Mena lacked the experience and background that Naomi had with singing/performing so his singing lacked the variation that she nailed in her performance. He sings the words and hits the notes well, but I agree that Naomi’s parts are more complex and enjoyable to listen to. Great video! 😄

I wouldn't have cut it, but it does eclipse A whole new world on so many levels. I would have put it at the beginning of the story though. Maybe after the street rat scene or similar. It comes as a song for fated connection, both seeking freedom they don't have. So putting it around the beginning before they meet, or right after, could've fit and wouldn't harm the cohesiveness of the story. It would have also given that sense of fated stars because in all due honesty their romance keeps feeling rushed (a flaw in all disney lbh) and dragging it a little bit does contribute to buying it more so... yeah
