Hi:) I love your reaction videos, and as a singer it gives me so many great tips to consider! I was wondering if you could listen/react to something from tangled the series? Before you totally go saying no, (lmao yes ik it seems childish😂) but there’s this song called waiting in the wings (Eden Espinoza) and a song that it a duet called nothing left to lose between Eden and Jeremy Jordan and ahhhh it’s just phenomenal!

I worked on Aladdin and was there when the big reprise was filmed. Alan Menken was on set that day and she sang it live. It was phenomenal - she blew everyone away that day. She's a true powerhouse of a performer, a real professional and an incredibly lovely person to boot.

Yeah, she actually sang it live I think, but obviously they put a pre recorded vocal over it, but her singing it live made it actually realistic to how she sings it anyways.
@melindamercier68112 жыл бұрын
She sang the beginning part live. The rest was a rerecording of her studio version (a much better mixed one this time). Disney is terribly inconsistent and they over compress everything when they master vocals in studio.
@NineAnutza2 жыл бұрын
She sang live and acapella, Alan menken was playing the piano in the room next to the set and she had an ear piece, but the rest of the crew, cast and director she was singing live and there's bts footage of this scene and them talking about it. The idea came after justin Paul and benj pasek did the same with Emma Stone in her audition song in la la land...

The best thing about the Aladdin live action was Naomi as Jasmine and them adding 'speechless'. Change my mind.

I completely agree
@peterlewis21782 жыл бұрын
Unpopular opinion: I prefer the live action to the animated. I think mostly because of the additions/changes to Jasmine, making her a more fleshed out character. That, and I didn't have the nostalgia bias, since I didn't see the original until High School, and it had actually been kind of underwhelming.
@ElizaArika2 жыл бұрын
As much as I like the song and her performance, ngl I just don't think the song and her singing style/voice type matched the style of rest of the soundtrack
@marthavisperas78172 жыл бұрын
Same thoughts, but I wish they could've directed this scene better. They could've saved more time if they just made Jasmine sing this while ACTUALLY confronting Jafar or that commander Hakim or wtv his name was. It also would've been nice to see Jasmine directly showing her frustrations towards the people who were telling her to shut up while putting them to action considering that in canon she's capable of doing it. I dunno, just my thoughts about this scene.

The crazy part is for the rest of the cast, crew and director she was singing acapella since she had an ear piece and Alan menken was in another room playing the piano while she was performing and singing live...there's a bts video of this and I cry everytime I watch it. @DefyingGravity9232 жыл бұрын
If i remember some behind the scenes info, when she gets to the first "I won't be silent" and the guards disappear, it is all a one take shot. No cuts. So, if someone makes a mistake, they start from the beginning again. It is one of the things that directors do in movies and TV shows that I love. It can show how hard the crew and actors work to get the perfect shot.
@vickipep12 жыл бұрын
Yep. Her whole song was done in one take, even the spin on "let the storm in"
@RangerA522 жыл бұрын
People think that it’s a mix between the live and studio version but in a behind the scenes video the production team said that she song it live and used it because they only took one take with one camera. So yes. The beginning of the video is live but so is the rest of the song in the second version. Everything was done live. If you listen, there’s certain things in her singing (like the strain in her voice at the high notes) that sound different than the studio version.

In Speechless part 2 she actually sang it live from the beginning up until the part where the guards disappears. There’s a behind the scenes footage of it and they actually talked about it as well. It’s also pretty obvious because the audio quality changes during the chorus part (where the guards disappears)

Speechless is hands down one of the best real life action Disney songs ever to be sung. I just love how they portrayed Jasmine differently from the original cartoon and made her stand up for herself instead of waiting for her prince/Aladdin to come save her. Honestly speaking, the damsel in distress trope in Disney Princess is really overrated and over used so seeing them differently portray Jasmine in the live action really made Aladdin the best Disney Princess Live Action remake ever. I love this song so much that upon finish watching Aladdin this version, I’d immediately search for this song and had it on replay, so addicting and it still is music to my ears!!

Naomi Scott has an incredible voice and she is not afraid to use it.... I have been watching Naomi grow as an Actress and Singer since 'Lemonade Mouth'. Her technical singing skills are top notch while her physical delivery skills really connect with the audience. Naomi is British and her normal daily conversation has a wonderful Brit accent. Yet, when singing there is no trace of accent. I know other Brits who completely loose their British accents while singing also. Audrey, I really enjoy your style of music review. Not only that, but you can sing as good as the best of them. Your knowledge is very apparent. I subscribed and will be waiting for next review.

Yes, in the final edit of the movie, she is singing live until, I think, she throws open the doors. She talks about it in an interview, how the whole first part was sung live and in one take. I think she sang the whole thing on set, but they didn’t use all of the live material. You can tell the difference from the first part and the second, how it went from live to studio, still amazing either way.

I subscribed when you did surface pressure and I am not disappointed. I have no idea about singing. I am pretty sure I make people's ears bleed when I sing 🤣 but hearing you explain the science behind singing is fascinating. I am learning so much about singing I never had a clue about. Many songs stir a huge amount of emotion in me. Avril's song, head above water, made me cry when I first heard it and I wonder if it's just the lyrics or if there is more to it then that now.
@imkelucius78622 жыл бұрын
There is a behind the scenes video of filming this exact scene. They wanted here to lip sing it like they do for a lot of films and music videos. But she actually sings the song when acting all of this instead of playback it. I don’t know if they used that version in the film or if it was a recorded version you heard. But the cool thing is, she is actually singing in this clip. So I like listening to reactions on her singing in this scene because it’s not staged and its exactly how she would open her mouth to sing those notes.
