I like to think Draconequus are some sort of species stemming from or came before chimeras. They have sentience like ponies, changelings, yaks, ect. To be a draconequus, you have to have at least 4 different creature traits(as chimeras are depicted with only 2 or 3 usually) and 1 of those has to be pony like. Discord has shown he needs chaos, needs to cause chaos, to exist or else he fades out of existence, so maybe all draconequus have to do with chaos, there magic is chaos magic which has been shown to be something only Discord(and assumedly anyone in his species) can control. Because of this, maybe they're hiding because of Discord's reputation or are hidden in plain sight like a changeking could, since we've seen Discord alter his own body multiple times to look different. And chaos magic doesn't have the limitation of concentration like unicorns/alicorns does

I mean yeah, it doesn't really make sense to call Discord a "draconequus" if he was the only one of his kind that ever existed. It's not like Majiin Buu from Dragon Ball is called a "majin," a "buu," or any other things that would imply he's from some species, he's just called Majiin Buu because he's the only one that exists (in canon). The only reason people would call Discord a draconequus is if there were others to compare him to. And if there are other draconequus, Discord would be the outlier since he has parts from other speices that fit with his chaotic aethetic whereas a typical draconequus would be exactly as it's name implies, half pony and half dragon.

My theory is that since we know all draconeqqus are creatures of disharmony i think something happened to most of the draconeqqus like they didnt wanna be chaotic anymore so they faded away because we say discord was fading away in one episode with fluttershy and discord

if we take into account the extended universe (in the comics) there is like draconicus in addition to Discord : -Exitium (father of Discord and king of the Draconicus, he's dead now), -Cosmos (Sister of Discord but also his girlfriend, (yes I know it's weird) banished to the stars), -Eris (cousin of Discord, lives in an alternative universe), -Accord (his "brother" ?, lives in an alternative universe (I also read somewhere that he had a daughter and a son but i am not sure if it is cannon or not)

Why does everyone think that discord's head is a pony it's a goat let me explain his body parts you already know his snake like body and his dragon tail okay so his right leg is a horse leg his left leg is some sort of dinosaur or a lizard if it was a dragon it would look red like his dragon tail and his lion paw and Eagle Claw and that's not a dragon wing that's a Batwing and now that you mention that blue Wing is a pony a wing I now believe it his left horn is a deer horn and his right horn is a unicorn horn and those on discord's body parts explained

Didn’t the comics show another that was discords ex wife? Also it could be possible there’s more than one but there’s only one in the universe fruendship is magic takes place. If discords powers are anthro go by maybe draconiquus are not actually part of equestria itself but come from elsewhere solving the discord being the only one while also not realy being the only one the wording pony’s use calling him by a particular race or species may also imply other draconiquus have visited equestria before but maybe just didn’t stick around

Im pretty sure in the comics there's another draconequus shown called cosmos, which, regardless of not fitting the horse part in the draconequus name, she is Canon, i wouldnt consider princess Eris a draconequus.. there's really nothing going on in her design besides being some weird bird. Eris claims to be discords cousin, but being cousins doesnt mean they're ever so near specie wise. Also, that also means spirits such as discord do have parents. What could the parents of a spirit of chaos be?

I don't think Discord is the only Draconequus, but their origin is simple: they emerged from existing chaos magic in the world, especially Equestria. AS for why they went extinct, the blizzard created by the hatred of the three pony tribes was to blame.
