i would love to see you do a try on of clothes you normally wouldn't wear or maybe like a "basic" late 2017/2018 look! you pull off such unique and throwback fashion, I'm curious how you would look in a "fashion Nova Instagram model" style!!

I'm 38 and I LIVED for Delia's back in the day! I bought so much stuff from their catalogs, I probably kept them in business! I was a model and beauty queen in the 90's and My fashion idols were Clarissa Explains it all (Melissa Joan Heart) and the girl from the show Blossom, Mayim Bialik, (Amy Fowler on the Big Bang Theory). If you ever need 90's inspiration, check out those shows.

So late 90s, early 2000s! Love this! One thing from the 90s that I wore in 1993ish -1994ish (and would rather forget) was grunge. Basically: jeans, a normal or oversized fit graphic tee, and an oversized flannel shirt - opened to display the t-shirt, of course. Ugh!! (Very "My So Called Life")

I’m hoping that puka shell necklaces (although I have seen a scattered few unironically for sale) and ‘tribal’ arm band tattoos stay firmly put back in the ‘90s! Not fashion related, but I really miss those bath oil things that came in little squishy shapes like stars, hearts and shells you could get back in the day. Everyone I knew seemed to have a random jar in their bathroom filled with these that never actually got used, but they were fun to play with. And Johnson’s No More Tangles strawberry scented shampoo- can’t find it anywhere here now. How I miss that fake strawberry smell...

This whole Delia’s throwback trend is really surprising to me. I don’t think anyone thought of them as one of the definitive 90’s fashion icons at the time. They were popular because they targeted mainly middle school girls and younger teens. That meant lots of daisies, sky blue, clouds, rainbows, and kid friendly versions of “hippy” or “new age” stuff like psychedelic prints, Volkswagen bugs, mushrooms, zodiac symbols, peace signs, smiley faces, and aliens. All the clothing companies were really into repackaging 60’s drug culture to market to little girls for some strange reason. Honestly this collection is spot on, but it’s basically kids clothing being worn by grown women. Older teens did wear Delia’s sometimes, but I always felt like it was mainly for younger girls. Not that I have a problem with adults wearing this stuff. It’s just interesting that they succeeded in bringing this style back, but for a mainly adult market this time.
@logantaylor2085 жыл бұрын
she never said it was definitive or icon she just said it was popular. also reason its targeted at adults is prob cos people who were kids in the 90s (and wore delias) are now adults so theyre targeting it at 90s kids who buy for nostalgia
@mochaccino32815 жыл бұрын
Myla O'Connor I didn’t say she said that, but people are treating Delia’s like an iconic 90’s brand, even though nearly every extremely popular brand that exists today also existed back then. I guess it’s because they made a lot of novelty stuff, just like Hot Topic and Claire’s.
@logantaylor2085 жыл бұрын
@@mochaccino3281 Anyone who is actually using the word "iconic" probably mean to say that it was unique to the 90s. those other brands that were popular both then and now means they weren't so unique to the 90s. baby phat is another example of what people might consider "iconic" 90s/00s brand as it's popularity was unique to the time. however some people prob see delias as iconic to their life. sophie even said in the video that she didnt have delias in her country so i doubt she thinks it was iconic in her life, but maybe to some others it was?

I dont know if supet wide leg JNCO jeans will ever come back. Also visors specifically worn upside down and distressed. A huge thing I wore as a kid in the 90s was leggings with like a stirrup on the heel if that's the right word.
