My almost 30 year old son mentioned he 'liked' Tuna Helper. Got me thinking about making a Tuna Casserole for him. He's not sure if he'll like it, but I reminded him he 'likes' Tuna Helper. This version (after watching about 5 other videos) got my mouth watering! This one's a keeper and I'm gonna make this sooner than later. Oh, you're fun to watch...love the humor! Take care

Takes me back to when I was a (very!) young bride in the 1970’s. Then, 20 yrs later, an updated yummy version that my kids loved. This thing defies time!!

OMG, this reminds me of Fridays in my home. Thursdays was meatloaf day, Wednesdays was either chili or mac and cheese, Tuesdays were tacos, Mondays was chicken noodle soup with grilled cheese sandwiches. Oh, my childhood days, I want to go back home again, but I can't because now I'm the one who has children coming home, and staying for several months. Oh well, thanks for the memories.

Made this recipe today. The proportions worked quite well. I used diced celery rather than frozen peas (two stalks). No mustard. Used a three cheese blend of Cheddar; Parmesan; and Gruyere. For the topping, 3/4 cup of breadcrumbs + 1/4 cup of crushed potato chips (along with some of the cheese mix grated and paprika and olive oil to dampen). Since intended for meatless Wed & Fri, used vegetable stock in lieu of chicken stock along with the milk as per recipe. Very nice indeed. Thank you.

Tuna casserole was always in my top 2 favorites, the other being lasagna, Mom always used the bottom of the bag potato chip crumbs for the topping, and she always made 2 pans, one for the rest of the family, and one for me, Been to long, I need to make this soon. Miss you Mom. Thanks

You - 1989. Me - 1969. I made a tuna noodle casserole tonight, then watched vids of it while it baked. I didn't have fresh mushrooms, so I did use the canned soup. But I did have a sweet onion I sauteed, and I did use half and half. The only shredded cheese I had was Gouda, and it was good enough. I didn't have frozen peas, and thought I had canned, but didn't. Next time. I did use buttery bread crumbs on top.

Also if you can find a tuna called "Tongol" (sometimes under different names that I can't keep track of, my local store brand calls it "Tongol"), it's a much milder-tasting tuna than Albacore, kind-of buttery, and even better it has negligible amounts of mercury compared to the big guys (Albacore). So you can eat Tongol tuna all the time. For me, Albacore has a very very strong taste that overwhelms everything else, but I love Tongol; the difference is not subtle.

@moniquebreier590810 ай бұрын
Ok, so I tried this tonight and actually doubled up a bit on the sauce and the final version was still really thick and not juicy at all. It tasted good, but the sauce was way too thick and I also made way to much, only noticing later that this recipe is geared to serve 8 people and there are three of us.........way too many leftovers.
@USNBLUE2 ай бұрын
You should have added at least 1/2 cup of milk to one can of soup to thin it out. And cut the noodle amount in half. I used 2 small cans of tuna. The other ingredients I just adjusted to that. It made half the amount.

OMG for some reason you tube keeps feeding me tuna casserole recipes, it so hard for me to understand why so many people say that this was their favorite childhood food or call it comfort food. Where I come from and how I grew up, Tuna Casserole was the meal of last resort when you were flat broke and had no other alternatives. All I can say bless your heart.
@Shelleybean33153 жыл бұрын
Just some advice for anyone who thinks they may not like canned tuna...try white (Albacore) tuna first. It's a lot milder; has a much less fishy flavour, and has a firmer texture. It's also a bit more expensive, but very much worth it. It's what I grew up on, so now I can't eat the light tuna in anything...after trying it a cpl of times and 🤢.
@maggie2936-q1m8 ай бұрын
