I just made this and it was ABSOLUTELY the best thing I've ever had! I substituted the crema for 1 full cup of heavy cream, I added turkey stock, then instead of the Colby jack I added white cheddar and smoked gouda to compliment the bacon! This was absolutely amazing! Thanks for sharing! Will definitely be making this all winter! ❤

same here, substituted the crema with 2 cups of heavy cream (I went with 2 because I don't have sour cream but I stuck with chicken stock. looks good can't wait to eat it I was following along with the video so it's still cooking. Update: holy cow that's delicious

Love this soup!! I diced some celery and carrots, nuked them in the microwave til tender and added them when when iadded the potatoes. I could find creama a so I used he cream. It turned out great.

@@CookingWithDonna it's not an expensive dish to make and very easy but time consuming...not to disrespect your cooking but it's a basis I would call it to add other things that you may like Carrots..ham ..leeks.. celery...BUT then it starts turning into a stew so ...but definitely a very rich winter warmer and as I stated will be making again... thankyou for the reply

@@CookingWithDonna that's why I said basis...you have bacon and potatoes ...you can add anything to it vegetable wise but as stated your recipe is bacon/potato soup👍 but the description is changed when you start adding everything 🤣 Iv cooked it exactly like you showed and to be honest it's rich...one of the richest soups iv ever made but during the winter autumn months that is what you need Iv bought some crust bread 🍞 today so will be enjoying today 22bd if February...much appreciated for reply and your input👍

Heavy whipping cream is the same thing as crema. You get this right where milk is sold. Crema can also be found in the aisle of the Hispanic and ethnic food aisle in your grocery store.

Hello Penelope yes you can sub cornstarch just don’t add it to the onions and garlic when they are frying add it to your stock making a slurry with cold water hope this helps❤
