I spent one year in the DR as a 10 year old, because my dad is a crane operator and the company was building a bridge out there. We had a maid and every day she'd make a fried eggs and fried plantains for breakfast. It was wild. They also had a burger joint that was hitting. I'm 40 now so I cant remember any names. But the food situation was real. Then again I'm coming from a black American soul food point of view.

That is some damn good food, especially on winter days. When it's that full of sabor, you really don't need all the hot peppers the we're so fond of.....just had two different steaks this past weekend for Father's Day, one rubbed and one marinated, and they were some of the best I've had in a decade or two. Surprised you didn't know that was platanos maduros (or you were just playin' it), and not bananas or plaaantaaayns. Lol. Loved the grace or blessing before you guys dug in.
