Thanks for talking about Indian food representation abroad. People abroad need education about food from India. Despite of so many Michelin star or luxury Indian dining places in London and the States etc, they don’t want to move away from the typical few Punjabi dishes. Even Punjabi food has different dishes than what these goras know as Indian food.

I instantly connect with people who are descriptive and expressive about food. When Kunal mentioned about a Sayyaba restaurant she didn’t go to, her expression was so relatable “ No, I didn’t go there”. I haven’t tasted any dish she loves but I am instantly sold out solely on the basis of her expressions (“ohh. Ohh”. “Partao it”) she makes to express the yuminess of the particular dish. When she said “Do I like Paani puri, do I like acting? I knew it she and I can be friends. I wasn’t expecting her to be descriptive about her love for paani puri but she donned that hat for that dish too “Firstly the poori has to crispy, I don’t want the sooji in the discussion. Imly has to be there in the Pudina, good balance of sour and sweet. Shouldn’t be too spicy. No garam ragda. Shouldn’t be too cold that it causes sensation in your teeth”. I haven’t come across anybody to be this descriptive as she was doing it and lastly when she said “Aise 12-13 khane hai hume and phir 2 sooki poori dena”

Oh dear, Kunal you won when you said sev puri, pani puri as compared to North ki chaat. And Shriya also put it well. No comparison because both are different but really every chaat dish can’t have dahi in it and taste the same which it does particularly in Delhi. Although UP chaat is def better than Delhi chaat. But really, nothing beats Sev Puri, Pani puri, Bhel, Ragda puri when it comes to the definition of chaat. #afoodiespeaks

Why compare.every body has different taste .for me chat means dahi, chutney n onion combo.I don't like sev puri .pani puri is fav but I like it with boil potato , onion n chana with mint n lemon or tamarind water .aloo tikki chat with chhole is only chat that i like without curd.So food is about choice n differ individually

I say it as an avid traveller and someone who has moved (and stayed in) to different places since childhood, having tried so many different foods from different places in both India and many parts of the world, and also because I’m quite passionate about understanding good food, this is the conclusion I have come to. For example, I won’t even compare Chole Bhature from Delhi vs in Mumbai or down South, or vada pav from Mumbai vs any other place ka vada pav, because you don’t get the ladi pav they make in Mumbai in other places. Nowadays they manage to in some places but it’s not as fresh as it travels quite a lot and loses its softness.
