One of the things that isn't super well described is that there are supposed to be quite a few ways down further into the dungeon, but Laios, Marcille, and Chilchuck are all experienced adventurers. They may take their time and explore during other "quests", but right now their goal is to go as quickly as possible. Theyre taking all the shortcuts they know straight down. This episode does highlight that, despite their direct route, they are moving pretty slowly. Theyre stopping to cook full meals, and doing things like plucking and preparing a giant chicken and foraging for vegetables. AND that comes at the expense of a stranger suffering because Senshi believes he has a better method of taking the antidote than... just taking it. Ultimately, theyre saving time. But. If they had brought food with them they couldve eaten rations while moving and moved twice as fast. Most episodes are about 1 day, its easiest to mark the passing of time with Marcille's hairstyle as she changes it every morning. Though she does do it up in different ways if shes got to work with her hands or something.

LOL bro thats what i keep thinking. like the brother is somewhat calm so i dont think its end of the world but i cant help but feel bad for the poor thing.

If it makes you feel any better. Falin is already dead. Even if she is getting digested, she's not really feeling anything. The entire quest is to resurrect her from the dead, not rescue her alive. They only have to reach the dragon fast enough to ensure Falin's remains have not completely dissolved
