I just binged the entire series. The women were celebrating about how they made fire so quickly and were better off than the men. On the men's side, I genuinely did not remember ONCE when they mentioned ANYTHING, not one thing, relating to the women's side, they didn't undermine them, they didn't say they were winning, nothing like that. Hell I'd even wonder if the men were even told that women were trying to survive as well on another island just like them.

There’s also another thing that’s weird with this show which just makes me think that it was as stacked in the women’s favour as possible and they still lost. The further the series progresses, you can see the men drastically loosing weight, to the point where their ribs and some organs are visible. The women, however, who were consistently performing much worse, don’t seem to have lost any weight at all. And at the end of the series, we see the men going through “re-feeding syndrome” and not finishing their meals despite still being extremely thin and malnourished, meanwhile the women left the hotel to get junk food from a convenience store. And because we saw them get unfair advantages (the fish, the piglets, the random bottle of orange aid, etc) it’s not out of the ordinary to assume that they were secretly getting fed extra behind the scenes

I believe there's a number of factors that play in. Most prominently is that women are better at starving than men. Possibly due to muscle distribution idk, but when men/women are put in situations where they starve, women tend to take longer to die. The men were actually more active and therefore consuming more energy in the long run. I believe the show "Alone" had an issue where the contestants/winners strategies evolved into tactfully starving yourself, instead of actually surviving. Not that this made the women the winners in any case, but I doubt they were secretly straight up handed food. (Thats what the pigs were for)

Also their caloric requirements would probably be lower. That said, there’s still WAYY too many instances of the women getting food unfairly and I’m sure there were many times that the production crew were secretly giving them food just based on how poorly they were doing most of the time

I think shows like this accidentally stumble on the truth. There was an earlier Scandinavian Survivor show which coincidentally showed the men getting S done and the women lounging, lazing and backstabbing. SPOILER: This show is kind of infamous. The producers interfered, repeatedly, to give the women a break because they were so awful at everything. They planted the pigs, and after the dumb creatures befriended the other dumb creatures, they had to drug and tie up(!) the third pig and leave it to be found. Those things were not wild boars, like you'd find in the wilderness. They were healthy, mange-free, de-parasited domesticated animals with no fear of humans. The 'free fish' encounter was arranged too. The brought them water, rations, and helped them find the beach. The only real thing was the look of self-hate in Bear Grylls' eyes as he LIED about the women "surviving."

its not really the courts - those are just symptom. What changed was the whole lifestyle and expectation on cultural level. There was time when men and women both needed each other, agreed that they needed each other and indeed respected each other for what they brought to the common table. Atm that is not the case anymore, it is the lifestyle expectation especially when have these days that change, along with the fact that as women have wanted to start to work and earn like men, they have less need for men. But at the same time alot of women have now zero knowledge about the family and household stuff that used to be womens domain in the past. ...giving less reason for men to get the woman as really its now easier to buy whatever services you need, rather than expect that you can date/marry a woman who knows how to do it. What this tells me is that its up to us to change how we raise girls. I believe the root of the problem isn't that women are weaker or think differently, but that our expectations for what we want from girls is set too low. These women obviously aren't raised with the same emphasis of self-reliance and maturity that is expected in men. Hi TbyS, this is by far the best comment to the series. You summed up both the challenges and the failures in a factual manner. I think that the difference in outcome for men and women will be due to cultural differences in expectations/roles, cultural differences in growing up, cultural differences in accountability and cultural differences in perceiving reality. In societies where men and women are accountable for their contribution to the group, you don't see this.

The producers of the shows were geniuses. They edited in interview clips of the women saying they're doing this to prove they're strong and independent, between the scenes of them crying and struggling to light a single fire. One of the women started crying before even getting off the boat because her clothes would get wet.
