Dungeon Meshi is honestly a breath of fresh air. No Isekai, no overpowered edge lord protagonist, no harem, and no video game mechanics, just a fun Adventure/Fantasy/Cooking Anime with a cast of well written characters.

Just so everyone is aware: Marcille and the plant tentacles have 0 weird implications (the inappropriate kind at least, there are implications that can be weird, like how the plant eats dead bodies and how people can eat the plant who by default also end up sorta eating the dead body) dunmeshi has NONE of those weird anime tropes and it is incredibly respectful of its character' dignities (with the exception of Senshi but youre likely to enjoy that)

This. Since they are taking shortcuts with chilchuc's knowledge and also are very well fed, the journey to the red dragon takes like 5-7 days at most iirc

and they're typically eating everything they make within 24 hours of making it. (that's why they had no major food on floor 3 till they caught the mimic), they ate everything back on floor two and just had snacks/ingredients to work with. The scorpion they ate all of during the hot-pot, with Senshi saving the leftover broth in a waterskin, that would keep several days easily though they used it supper for the Tart. i.e. they eat the kelpie meat the next day (about 14 hours after butchering it, and Senshi has it packed carefully as well (when he see him unpacking everything to feed Marcille, he had a lot of the meat wrapped in oil-paper which slows oxidation). the big bat they butchered and ate for supper the same day they got it. Also he left the skin/fur on the main primal after processing it and wrapped it around itself which helps slow oxidation, and can trim it if it looks like the surface is going bad, though due to the trap room, they ended up using quicker than he has originally planned). He used the last of the gem-nest preserves in the Holy Sorbet. Eggs last a long time if they aren't washed since they keep their protective coatings. the frogs they eat the next day after getting all their preparations for the dragon in order.

Have to say... the spell the Mad Mage uses i'd assume to be _Heat Metal._ It's been a favorite of mine in D&D, in that if you ever run across a heavily armored humanoid, you can hide in a bush and chant that to make him cook in his own juices. Succeeding a saving throw with allies has them help the creature take their armor off, but otherwise, they're gonna take hella damage and freak the hell out while they do it. An excellent spell for sneaky Druids
