My immediate family didn’t eat tomatoes at breakfast but my granny and my Aunt Ruby did. When we would visit them in Murphy they would always have them with breakfast. They would have such bright colors, like yellow, purple, red and pink. My granny ate cream of wheat which was a treat for us. We usually ate oatmeal or grits. I can still remember the smell of bacon or sausage, scrambled or fried eggs and toast or biscuits with homemade jam or jelly. My Aunt Ruby would always fix hot tea to drink with breakfast. I miss those days but the memories are close to my heart.

Several years or so ago when I made pancakes, I liked to make some extras of a size that would fit upright in our toaster. I'd keep them in the fridge for the next day in the toaster. They also kept okay frozen to use a few days later.
@PENPAL5552 күн бұрын
Yes, thats a great idea 💡, I usually make extra of all my meals, separate them into meal portions & freeze them, for the days when I want a good meal. But, are too tired or extra hungry. It keeps me from grabbing something 🙃quick that is very tasty such as junk food but usually not as healthy...

That’s my most favorite breakfast (or supper) in the whole wide world: pancakes, eggs and bacon. My grandpa in Vermont produced maple syrup for the family. It was a treasure back then and we brought a jar back home to Costa Rica. They didn’t sell it here. My grandpa has been gone for many years and now they sell the delicious syrup here. What a feast, it always warms my tummy but mainly my heart. I’ll be trying your recipe. ❤️🥞 🇨🇷

Breakfast for supper… one of my favorite meals. Anytime you can manage to serve some pancakes with some good country sausage patties and scrambled eggs you’ve gotta real Appalachian meal. We usually add some black walnuts to our pancake mix. Maple syrup or country sorghum with a smidgen of butter over hot pancakes, that will make you smile all day. JFG Coffee to wash it all down. Breakfast, lunch, or supper… that works for me anytime. 😊

We cook bacon in the oven, but we set a cookie cooling rack in the pan and put the bacon on top of it. That way the grease accumulates about 1/4” below the bacon instead of swamping it. Delicious either way.

A cold, rainy morning (especially on weekends) puts me in the mood to make a good breakfast like this. I usually cheat though and use frozen hashbrowns that I fry up in 15 minutes, while those are "browning up" I make my pancakes with a "just add water" mix and use precooked bacon that's ready in a minute and a half in the microwave - and I gotta have my Miss Butterworth syrup!

Love pancakes! All looks wonderful! You used a vintage spackle ware bowl to mix your pancakes in - these bowls are rare, really expensive in antique stores - I have just a few to mix stuff in - of course no microwave - they were made way before people used microwaves - I love kitchen ware and every time I go antique shopping I have my eyes open for spackle ware bowls! 🌷

Like the sour cream addition. I am particular about my pancakes. Unlike most, I don't put lots of butter in the pan. Have this nice old flat cast iron. Touch of butter. Like my daddy I have it on a medium low heat and wait till bubbles are all the way though the whole pancake before flipping. Then wait till the other side stops steaming to take off the pan. Like bananas with them. Warm syrup.

We like fluffy pancakes, and I make it with self rising flour and buttermilk. They rise up and melt in your mouth. I make them on an electric griddle and use a 1/4 cup to pour them out. I can make 8 at a time. It's just me and my husband now, and I still use the griddle. It keeps a constant 350*, which makes for a light and fluffy cake.

When I was a kid we used Bisquick for everything from biscuits to pizza dough to cinnamon rolls and everything in between, but it was best for pancakes, and if you were making waffles you just added a little Wesson oil 😄 I like them thin and a little crispy around the edge, can't get that from frozen, thank you for the recipe, Tipper, I going to make these 👍🙏

One can't beat a pancake at any time. I like peanut butter on them as well whether they are hot or cold - if hot, still adding some syrup, and if they are cold then roll it up and it makes a good snack or quick lunch. One can also separate the eggs and beat the whites until stiff then fold into the batter after everything else if mixed in - it makes a 'fluffier' pancake. Thanks Tipper.

Lovely pancakes to begin a busy day. Mom-mom made plain pancakes, corn cakes (regular batter with home-canned white corn) and potato cakes (to be eaten with her smooth as silk fresh applesauce) from the recipe book in her head, never measuring any of the ingredients. They all turned out perfectly every time. Your cake cover is a hand-made piece made from hammered aluminum roughly between 1900 and 1950. When I looked on E-bay, I couldn't find one identical to the one you have. They don't fetch much today, but your piece is rare and was a true bargain. I must admit admit a touch of envy.

Thank you for another lovely video! I really love pancakes and I'm interested to try your recipe, I love the idea of sour cream in the batter. I love to add fresh blueberries on top of each pancake right after pouring it into the skillet, they burst while cooking, and sometimes I'll add a little bit of lemon zest to the batter, lemon and blueberries compliment each other well. My son loves what I call "chocolate covered strawberry pancakes" which is just chocolate chips in the pancakes and fresh strawberries served on top.

It's a basic recipe, but the best. I was afraid you were going to leave out the vanilla . . . I sometimes add a little extra. Buttermilk and a little extra baking powder can be good too. Wish I still had the hearty appetite of a working man . . . pancakes and two strips of bacon would fill me! I like the way you say syrup--we always had sorghum and the two words go good together.
