505 S CRTOM means 505 with a line. (In Croatian 's' means with, and 'crta" is a line). If you take a look at the candies, you will see that each one has a line. Candies that exist more then 50 years and all generations like it here.

That tunel is famous because first large rave party in Croatia was made there in 1993. Name of that party was UNDER CITY RAVE.

Čušpajz=chushpayz. It literally means stew. The word chushpayz originates from german Zuspeise which means side dish. But over the years it evolved into main dish.

A tip for future videos. Please don't make the music so loud. It just blasts out of nowhere. Otherwise, awesome video. Keep going.

Nice videos. 505 is best to keep it in you mouth until it dissolves, don't crush it with your teeth. One delicious desert in Autumn/Winter time I always get in Zagreb is Kesten pire sa šlagom (Chestnut Puree with Whipped Cream).

I so hope you made more food tours because they are so fun. Food is essentual to a country's culture. A travel channel without it is a no go so. Yay! Loved it. Mor plz! :D Hope you fixed the audio. Music is way to high. :)

I feel like Croatia is surprisingly cheap? At least from what you guys have shared. I’m sure you can go overboard, but you can also still enjoy it cost effectively.
@awaytogether

Croatia was actually surprisingly expensive to us. Zagreb was a breath of fresh air - the further away we got from the tourist zones on the coast, the better things got. Allie did an amazing job finding affordable stops on this tour!

Do you guys use any translation app such as Google translate? I mean, at least you would know what certain words mean. The app also lets you hear the word. Could be helpful with avoiding some of the great blunders with pronunciation. 😄😄😄

Is it ward to get by just knowing English? What would you think of spending a few months there?
@awaytogether
@awaytogether 2 жыл бұрын
Not at all! Many people in Zagreb and throughout Croatia spoke enough English that we didn't have trouble. Of course, we always try to learn enough of the language to survive, but that's a few key phrases. We spent almost a full month in Croatia and loved it. We will definitely go back and I wouldn't hesitate to be there long term.

s'crtom: First of all. Our R is not the same as yours. the c is prounced like a ts sound as in bits. If the the c has a tilted line on top or an upside down roof it's a ch as in cheese for the line and Chuck for the roof. So first one softly and second one hard spoken. If you see an S like this Š it's simply Sh. Slavic doesn't have a W. So everywhere you use a V replace with a W in your mind and pronounce it the same way. Đđ = DG/dg as in German the G and say a d sound befor the g sound and you got it...somehow.
@awaytogether
@awaytogether 2 жыл бұрын
That is so helpful, thank you!!! I got more comfortable with all the nuances of s and c the more time we spent in Croatia, but “s crtom” threw me for a loop!

@@awaytogether I can imagine that. There are no pronounciation obstacles in English like this. ;-) It is the same pronounciation as in the island of Krk. ...and no, it's not like Kirk. ;-)

@Kivas_Fajo
@Kivas_Fajo 2 жыл бұрын
@@solobano570 I meant pronounce wise...sorry for the confusion. Polish is one of the rare exceptions that use a "W". It's Vladivostok and Vodka, not Wladiwostok and Wodka. ;-)
