Best milk for freddo capuccino is 1.5% milk, so yes, it's actually low fat milk froth! It's a greek invention, as is freddo espresso. It dates around almost 30 years back, but became very popular around 10-15 years ago. During the past recent years many tourists have come to know those drinks are more popular among the locals than the iconic frappe, so lately the drinks started to shyly spread out to some neighbour countries as well. I know italians are known to take their coffee seriously, but we also do take our coffee seriously and drink lots of it and experiment a lot on it! There are the hardcore of us who drink freddo espresso or capuccino all year round, but most of us drink cold coffee from April to October and switch to warm coffee November to March when the weather is colder. As most greeks are born to feel grumpy during bad weather days, it's pretty common for most of us to drink cold coffee during i.e. a 15 degrees sunny day during January, after 10 days of 0 degrees cold, cloudy, rainy or even snowy weather to celebrate the sunshine. What can I say, we are addicted to sunshine... and coffee!

"Thessalo-niki" means "Thessalian Victory" (Thessalia is the first south region you see after Macedonia, the Thessalians were allies with Philip, father of Alexander and fought against the Phoceans and won. So Philip gave this name to his new born daughter to remember that victory. She's got married to Kassandros, who build the new capital and named it after her as it is mentioned on this video too. Very cute video of our beloved "mother-city"! Ef-charistO (charisto has the same root with charisma - maybe a tip to memorize it)

Nice one. Thank you for visiting my hometown. Maybe next time you will have more time to show the lifestyle of the city which is very vibrant. Areas like Lathathika, Valaoritou, Navarinou are very alive. Also you didn't visit ancient Byzantine churches which are the main historic attraction of the city aside the old city walls. In the Eastern Roman Empire, Thessaloniki was the second biggest town. Constantinoupole was the capital and Thessaloniki the second in importance. Thus and since it is libarated from ottomans the ancient churches remain the most unspoiled and frequent monuments in this 2300 years old town...

Great video again guys! Love it! So, about he freddo coffees. That's a Greek thing. It dates back in the '90s, but the origin is the frappe, which was invented in 1956 in Thessaloniki. Frappe is instant coffee shaken with ice. In early '90s in Athens, they thought, ok.. We Greeks love cold coffee and espresso and cappuccino is more fashionable and healthy then instant coffee and that's how the two sorts of freddo were born and they are today the national drinks in Greece 😍🇬🇷✌️😂

Wow, great video of my hometown, thank you so much for it!!! The whole of Macedonia indeed has numerous sites worth visiting, which cover all the historical periods you mentioned in the video... if you're still here and have some time and money to spare you might want to check out Ancient Vergina, to the west of Thessaloniki, which is close to where the capital of Ancient Macedonia, Aeges, was located... there you can visit the tomb of Phillipos, father of Alexander the Great, among others, and many magnificent finds, like truly amazing jewellery made of gold, crowns and weaponry, as well as ancient greek inscriptions which show how little our greek language has changed over two thousand years, that we can still read and understand it... the museum is actually inside the tombs, which makes it even more amazing... if you ever get round to it, you're really going to enjoy it :-) as for the food, for us locals it's a curse, lol, we struggle to stay in shape, (if that!) It's the first time I've watched you, keep doing what you're doing, it's great!!!

Now that Macedonia is a country, Greeks will need a new name for their northern region. (lolz) Besides, Macedonia wasn't Greek until it was invaded by Greeks from the South and original inhabitants Macedonians were massacred thrice during Balkan wars, WWI, and WWII.
