I knew this Jewish girl in foster care, actually she was my foster dads sister. She could bake her azz off. She made a serious grilled cheese and tomatoe soup. Her voice was so relaxing and she would always refer to herself in the first person. Beautiful.

My mom always makes Babka at Christmas, about 30 loaves, but I've known it to be of Polish origin. Our Babka has raisins and a cinnamon sugar crumb on top.

@@a.phillips6892 Yes a cold proof is a thing! Usually needs more than 2 hours though, because the colder the temperature, the more time the yeast needs to become as active as you want it.

The actual idea of babka was to make a dessert like food with the extra challah dough. So real babka is supposed to be “parev” food. (Ask Tess what “parev” is)
