There is some resemblance, but it is merely superficial. Gods is an insanely tactical game, with strategy and secrets (perhaps too many of those). Lot of people criticise DELIVERANCE about its lack of variety, always comparing it to GODS. But if you really play this game, you can quickly understand that appart from the badass warrior throwing axes and the first level in a castle, DELIVRANCE isn't a copy of GODS. The main idea here is all about a big let off steam with huge monsters, impressive animation, a game for guys that want to have big balls in a game 😁. So of course, there is not a lot of variety of monsters. But it was a necessary sacrifice to work on a 1Mb system and appart from that, we have here an impressive game technically but not only, with 4 backgrounds and huge monsters offering sometimes a state of the art animation rarely seen in a computer game in 1992. Main music is fabulous and all these explosions and blood, it's just jubilant 😱😍. And have you seen that DELIVERANCE even offers a totally different gameplay in the last level ? I really like GODS, a game created by talented guys that were clearly not designing there first game. But for me DELIVERANCE is another thing, and I really like it too.

It's a different kind of game IMO. Here the deal was to display big sprites to create an impressive game with big monsters, tons of blood and explosion. @@AL82RetrogamingLongplays Of course, if the game has no music you cannot create a video with it. What I mean is, why it seems so many amiga games lack music during the game? Is it some memory constraint or something like this?
@paolobilli73964 жыл бұрын
@@kwkfortythree39 Because Amiga had only four channels audio... so you had to choose...
@iXien2 жыл бұрын
@@kwkfortythree39 Tons of games offer sound AND musics while playing. Of course it would be nice to have 2 channels more but it's more a question of talent. Making a 4 channel music and don't include SFX or just play SFX without any music was the choice of simplicity. But lot of talented musicians perfectly managed to create superb 3 channel musics that allow to save a channel for SFX. The most talented ones created 4 channels musics using little samples that can be cutted by SFX without being too much annoying. But there is something more that seems to be difficult for console players to understand is that back in the days Amiga was very impressive in terms of sound. Paula was something like the state of the art of specialized soundchip until the arrival of the Gravis Ultrasound anfd more advanced Sound Blasters on PC. So developpers ususally made the choice of just playing a beautiful music that filled all the memory, never cut by SFX. Or conversely, they decided to offer superb SFX spread over the 4 channels in stereo so that they never cut each other. And the Amiga lovers appreciated that too. A perfect example is Project-X (Im' not talking about the fact it's a good game or not). At the time in magazines none of the reviewers complained about the lack of music during the game, on the contrary welcoming a great sound atmosphere. The same in the Alien Breed series. Appart from that, There are musics and SFX in Superfrog or All Terrain Racing. Nobody can discuss the Allister Brimble's talent, it was a real choice from TEAM 17 in some of their games. So here is the deal : you got games offering balanced musics and SFX, other ones with only big musics and at last others with full channels SFX only. whether for reasons of saving RAM, inability of the musician to manage music/SFX on 4 channels or by choice of development, we find these 3 possibilities of sound environment according to each game and that was part of the habits. Here given the place taken by the sounds, I am not shocked by the absence of music.
