Hi Alex, I did not update you, got rid of my 2023 Ioniq 5 Long Range AWD limited, on the 6th service visit (to a completely new dealer service center) they figured out it was a bent pin that kept blowing the Temperature sensor Module for the CCS socket, unloaded it once it was fixed did not lose any money (other than all the ferry trips at about $100 a crack) but did buy a 2023 Model Y Long Range AWD one of the last from Fremont as in Canada they are now all from China. My delivery was stellar not one issue with the car super clean not like the dirty Ioniq 5. The Tesla delivery centre even had the car in Dog Mode to keep climate on as we were early to delivery, super praise to Tesla Vancouver for such a great delivery experience. The car has been fault free with over 4 long distance road trips including pulling a tent trailer. Must say the comfort suspension is not that far off the really nice suspension on the Ioniq 5 but do not miss the CCS charging hassles, what a great car Tesla! Right after I took delivery though (being Fast DC charging gun shy) we drove it 300km and did one fast charge at a version 3, as usual Tesla just delivers!

Two suggestions: Chill Mode. I found the acceleration a bit too much. Second, when wanting to take out the J1772, lean in from the driver's side, press the unlock button on the console and then pull it out. Most instructions say to pull out while holding it close, but I find it best to leave the adapter locked in place and unlock from the center console. Anyway, Enjoy!!!! Exciting!!! thx for sharing the expirence.

Thanks for the tips! I've gotten into the habit of unlocking the J1772 adapter from the center console too. Once I accidentally left the adapter in the port and the door partially closed on it... that was a stressful experience, trying to coax the door back open manually. Learned a lesson there!

I am thourghly jealous, Tesla may or may not have body gap issues or some interior trim issues but at least it all works and even if there are issues, they have the tech support and training that is top notch! I on the other hand have had my 2023 Ioniq 5 AWD limited equavalent delivered back in late Oct 2022 that still has no DC Fast charging. I finally got a 2022 RED long range SE equavalent loaner, and no update yet on when and if they can repair the most critical thing that I bought this car for, long distant road trips. This is my third Kia / Hyundai EV, 2019 Soul EV was traded on this and we still have the 2020 Soul EV for runabouts. Not happy and likly I'll dump this Ioniq 5 for a 2024 Tesla model Y long Range with the new hardware 4 / radar equipped model. Hyundai have no clue how to service high tech issues with their own Evs.
@alexkno11 Жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear about your woes with the Ioniq 5. That'd be such a great road-tripper with the 800V architecture. But, it's only as good as the DC Fast charger and charging network. Tesla just can't be beat right now on the fast charging experience at their superchargers. Best of luck!

We got the exact same model and config. I'm curious, how did you order your's with mud flups and ppf? I had to order my mud flaps and installed them myself (not very hard) but I didn't see this as an option in the configuration tool.
@alexkno11 Жыл бұрын
Someone commented on a previous vid and said that PPF and mud flaps come standard on cars delivered in Minnesota! Which is super nice given the crud they put on the roads in the winter. Curious if it's the same in your state?

how was the car on bumps and ditches? the ones i drove are pretty uncomfortable and bumpy is the new suspension really good? do you feel the bumps , is it smooth or rough?
@alexkno11 Жыл бұрын
It's still pretty firm, but it's not jarring by any means. There are some bumps I definitely notice, but others that seem to have been absorbed well by the suspension. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of experience with earlier Model Y's to compare against, but to me, the suspension seems "firm yet forgiving".
@robfisher3790 Жыл бұрын
Awesome, dude! Was that a v2 (150kW) supercharger or a v3 (250kW) supercharger? I've noticed some of the older v2's don't do as well in the cold.
@alexkno11 Жыл бұрын
I think it was a V3. Not sure why my charging rate was slow there; it was cold and I didn't navigate to it, so it could have been because the battery was cold. Charged up yesterday in the cold at a V2 and pulled 140kW no problem. Crazy how fast this charges compared to my Bolt.

@alexkno11 Жыл бұрын
I think you're right! I wasn't in a hurry anyways.
@tattooedyogi Жыл бұрын
why bother lowering the amp of the charge. Better to leave at 32amp, and schedule a departure time for the morning. That way the car will take a shorter time to charge, and charge faster. Slower charge is less efficient.
@alexkno11 Жыл бұрын
It'd be an interesting experiment to answer what's more efficient. Lower current has less loss in the wire due to resistance (increases with the square of current) but the ancillary systems like battery conditioning probably run harder when charging. Ideally, I'd optimize my charge rate based on departure time and grid pricing via a service like OptiWatt, but I haven't checked that out yet
@tattooedyogi Жыл бұрын
@@alexkno11 I beleive its been proven that higher amp is higher effeciency (in level 2 charging, vs level 1, which is essentially what your doing by lowering the amperage. Not like DCFC where there is a lot of loss due to heat. Yes if you have rates based on time of day, then definitely charge at the cheaper time of day. I wouldn't bother with optiwatt, Just know when your cheaper time ends have charging scheduled to finish before that time (do this in the Tesla App).
